We called Air Boss for a pre-season service check when we smelled stack gas inside. The tech found and showed us cracks in the heat exchanger, meaning it had to be shut down. The boss came out same day to estimate replacement, as did a competitor we called. Air Boss was $300 higher at $5.3k but it was for a Trane brand, with wifi enabled set-back thermostat, and what we perceived was a better rating and warranty. They were back 5 days later, as they projected, and a crew worked from 8am until 6:30pm to get us heat. A technician came back the next morning --also as promised--to complete testing the a/c and make corrections. Air Boss was professional and thorough. Not what we've learned to expect from tradesmen in the Lake Gaston area.

The repair guy actually did a good job but then the boss stopped by to "look at" installing a split system for our basement  even though that had been discussed several times previously- The temperature downstairs is alot cooler than upstairs. The job was scheduled for the first week of June and no one ever called and no one ever showed up. Will not use them again no matter how much advertising they do in this area.

When the technician came, he arrived inside the stated time and spent a good amount of time checking on my HVAC system. After about 20 minutes of checking everything it was eventually discovered that Amerigas had let the gas run out in my tank. So, that ended up being my problem. Everything Airboss did though was top rate and he even told me that if I had any problems after the tank was filled then he would come back and fix it right away. Airboss did great, Amerigas didn't do so well.

I diagnosed the problem, called and told them the part needed. They arrived and replaced the capacitor. They charged $104.21 for the part that normally costs $15-$20 plus their $75 service charge. Total time less than 10 minutes.
