Jewelry Sales/Design/Repair
Art agreed to repair the bail on the "Budded Cross" with Diamond pendant that I purchased from a famous Hawaiian jewelry Designer, Connie Conrad and straighten the arms. I purchased it in 1977 at the Ala Moana Shopping Center for $100.00 and still have the original box. When he gave it back to me, the setting for the diamond was fractured, the diamond was off center, a larger stone with a very deep scratch was in it's place, 1/2 the gold was removed from the inside of the open work.
I was devastated.
It is a common practice on EBay to remove gold from inconspicuous places and leave unpolished surfaces, and I have returend many items because of it, so I know what I am looking at. It was well worn for >35 years, had teeth marks from my daughter when she was teething and was totally polished.
I was so upset, I bought a microscope camera to demonstrate the damage.
