Banking with First Citizens Bank is next to the worst (BB$T) North Carolina based Bank that I have ever banked with !  Today is July 19, 2013 only "about" Three Months from when I first opened an account with this Bank in Cape Carteret North Carolina.
I have had issues since the very first Day with this Bank, both when banking "in-Person" and "online".
This bank is "Holding" my checks and does NOT PROCESS them in a TIMELY fashion, so that I will "bounce" the check and have to pay "an abundance" of Overdraft Fees, for one.
From the Beginning Experience to the End of the short time that I have been banking with this bank , they are and have been doing EVERYTHING they can Possibly do to CONFUSE, WITHOLD (access to online banking), and Not allow checks to clear in a timely fashion; instead "waiting" until they KNOW that the Money is not in the account so the Check will "Overdraft" and they can "charge an overdraft fee."
In this economy, those overdraft fees are "grocery money."
Upon opening this account with a Rob Blackwell I had to first of all "WAIT" an unusually LONG time to Meet with him though I could See him as he leaves his Office Door Open and I could hear EVERYTHING he was doing with the Customer Before Me who was from Minnesota somewhere and taking FOR-EVER like she wanted me to KNOW what she was saying .  At the same time a "Bridge" was being repaired on the way to the bank with a BIG Company From Minnesota that I had to cross to get to This Particular Bank.
The Wait time, even though I had an appointment was about an Hour and a Half!  Again Mr Blackwell left his office door Open so that Everyone could HEAR Everything and there were "security cameras" overhead...
I explained to Him that I needed to be able to have checks deposited into a bank that was both in Goldsboro NC as well as in the Morehead City area because my main bank was Three Hours Away.
From the start I did not feel "comfortable."
He knew from the very beginning that I had a small business and knew the name of the LLC and all of the "information" associated---most likely "before" our meeting.  For sure he knew what I needed the first day I was in his office.
I then proceeded to open an account explaining that my "business account was with another bank and that I wanted it to stay that way."
I did say that I had not been completely satisfied "all the time" with the other bank, Mostly because He Seemed to be Pressuring Me and Did Give me a  Very Hard Time about my Property Manager Information--
So I did this trying to get him to do what I needed him to do, rather than having him do whatever it was that He was trying to do.
After giving him all of this information, including the "tax ID information" associated with the business he proceeded to guide me into opening a "Personal Checking Account."
Three Weeks later when the Property Manager attempted to "deposit" a check into First Citizens in Goldsboro NC so I could see the direct deposit , and Online Bank with a bank  PHYSICALLY IN THE AREA, they TURNED DOWN THE DEPOSIT saying that I needed  a  "Business Account."
This created an incredible amount of " Financial Mess"for me and Distress (not understanding the Hoop Jumping) and ended up costing me hundreds of dollars in "Tax Money" cleaning up behind him.
I never understood why he didn't just say Oh you have to open a BUSINESS Account in order to be able to deposit a check.
eSecondly I had to "Go Back" to this young man and "open a Business account." Upon doing so I immediately noticed a company named "Yardworks" a  Local Landscaping Co. trying their very best to see everything I was doing at the counter at the bank including trying to get my account number etc... I should have closed down all accounts with that bank at this point!
I have had incredible trouble with  YardWorks Landscaping coming onto my Property in the Past (2006) ---without my Knowledge and Permission and Destroying my Landscaping( from another Landscaper Danny Taylor) with some kind of "netting and those Sticky Cactus Plants" planted just below a Wooden Fence.  A home  had just been built ( with a POOL in front of the Fence making the Pool Runoff Drain at the downward Slope of where the two Property Lines Meet (his and mine), built by a "Heaverly Builders" at 406 Emerald Drive Owned by a Nick Glennon who was with RIRA Restaurants.   He is No longer living but his family uses the home in season.  I have had trouble with all of their "Property managers, HVAC people etc etc etc etc..
All of these people have trespassed on either my property or my mother's property including the owner, his wife and his children from 2006 on.
I should have closed the account the moment I saw YardWorks hanging over my shoulder trying to get my information (which is also on Video).
The Problems have continued with each and every single transaction I have tried to do with this bank with the exception of 1 or 2 at the Atlantic Beach  NC Branch.
Trying to Online bank and get the online banking account set up was a Nightmare with TeleBanking at 888-323-4732.  It took about two months!   I was told that I needed to come into the bank WITH MY COMPUTER--which I refused to do, to get online and was finally able to get online about two months AFTER opening the Account after one of the Worst Experiences I have EVER had with two Tellers in Raleigh NC.
Both Women (1 a Supervisor) were Rude, and Unprofessional. I don't know if They didn't like be because I am Caucasian and they were African American  or what?  I felt "bullied." The Women continued to tell me they were "resetting my password" but I was unable to get OnLine that day after TWO HOURS of their Abuse. I had Previously Called trying.
I did finally get online (about two weeks later) with a Professional who was both friendly and knowledgeable and was truly sorry for the horrible experience I had in the past with TeleBanking,  I don't know what "race" she was.
I also did have a very competent , listener in another African American Woman or Banking Professional who listened , cared and really tried to resolve.
The problems go on and on.
The latest being a check I wrote to Austin Veterinary Clinic on June 19 which did not show up on online banking for at least 7-14 days  the Vet clinic did not receive  the check until July 3 as NSF (over two weeks later).
Also I wrote a check at Harris Teeter in Morehead City for around 200.and some dollars that should have shown up on Online Banking by the time I returned from the Grocery Store in the form of an Electronic Check Sunday July 14.    I called Harris Teeter that Monday the !5th and they assured me they had "Processed my check" and it was no longer in their Possession.  The check still did not show up in 'Online Banking" by Wednesday July 16th , so NOT TRUSTING THIS BANK--I called to ask them where my check was and why they had not "Processed" it.  FINALLY, because I called on Tuesday the check showed up in Online banking on ThursdayJuly 18---
I also had another Larger Check outstanding that my Home Based Bank was HOLDING, waiting for FIRST CITIZENS TO PROCESS IT.
i also had to call FCB  in order to get them to PROCESS THE CHECK!
I started not trusting anything with this bank when I was "flim flamed" on Online Banking with those two women at the Raleigh Operations Center who were "Brutal" when I tried to get OnLine with the Bank to see My Accounts and was Unable
