GREGORY SMITH HOME IMPROVEMENT

Mr. Smith contacted me after I posted a listing on Craig's List for a roofer. He was punctual when he came to my house to provide an estimate. This is described above. He came to my house on a Saturday for a deposit of $2000, which I provided. He said he would start the work the following Monday. He did not show up. He was hard to reach by telephone but would promise to start the work on a certain day, and would not show up. This happened several times. I began to worry that I was the victim of a scam artist. When he did show up (about 3 weeks later) he worked quickly and did a good job. He needed to borrow some of my tools because his weren't in good order. The work was done well and he cleaned up after himself. When the work was done the bill was $4720. He said he used 22 squares of shingles. His price increased from $125 per square from the original estimate to $175 per square. Still, it was half the price of other estimates, and the work finally got done.
