Brad is a true professional, does amazing work and very trustworthy. We hired Brad to renovate a bathroom, add a new bathroom, and add a storage room. Brad paid incredible attention to detail and was also extremely responsive. He was always professional, patient and courteous. We love the way it all turned out!! Plans are in place to call Brad for a project or two were are thinking about for next year.

I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The job was challenging as the house is a six-sided house with several design challenges. Brad worked very hard to ensure that creative solutions were found to meet any issues that arose (while keeping my budget in mind). He was very responsive to my emails and text messages and kept me in the loop throughout the project. I had contacted a few contractors about this job, and Brad was by far the most responsive and accommodating to make sure the construction project stayed on track and provided what I was looking for. I would recommend Brad Loy without hesitation and would use him again if the need arose.

Brad is a true professional. The job was done very, very well. Cleanup was as good as I have ever experienced. Everything was done as agreed at the prices we agreed. He does much more than decks and I would not hesitate to hire again for any repair or remodel.

It went perfectly. Everything from the permit to the finished product.
He was responsive, sent pictures and did quality work despite some very cold and bad weather.
It is a beautiful deck and now my house is in perfect order.
I love my house and love my deck. I would use him again in a moment's notice for any work on the house.

We hired Brad to replace decking and also replace some siding which also needed to be replaced.  We were lucky to find him in Angie?s List.  (THANK YOU ANGIE!)  This was no easy job and Brad tackled the job all by himself.   We have never seen anyone else in our lifetime (we?re pretty old folks)  who did the work perfectly.  Brad is an absolute perfectionist with his work and every part of the job was absolutely super.  His charge for all the work he did was very reasonable.  Our house now looks better than it ever did.  Thank you Brad!!!!

Brad was just great and very dedicated to getting everything done well and making sure we were satisfied.  We had a whole laundry list of jobs that we had in mind to do and he provided advice and ideas as well as service.  He was extremely hard working and though he did use some others to do work, he supervised most of it and checked after everything they did.  He came back multiple times to take care of small details that needed attention.  He was also a very good communicator, keeping us updated with e-mails and pictures when we weren't there in person.

It was truely a pleasure working with Brad Loy on this project.  Right from the start we had a good feeling both with the promptness of his responses as well as his suggestions on how to implement our plans.  Being a remote owner made it essential that we were able to rely on Brad to insure that the work was completed as designed.  The results are amazing, and we were very pleased with quality and craftsmanship that Brad brought to the job.  Brad did his best to minimize disruption when we were down to visit the propert during the job.  He took care of pullng all the permits required, and insured the site was cleaned up at delivery .  The size of the deck and porch were significant, adding over 900 sf to the home.  Brad worked with an engineer to develop a design that would maximize the views of the water, while conforming to the strict codes here on the coast.  I would recommend any owner considering a similar job to give him a call.

The cabinets were bought from Griggs and they are beautiful.  Cyd Dough is so helpful and responsive as well!  She allowed us to borrow the cabinet door, pick up samples from various places after hours, communicate by e-mail and pictures to select sinks, cabinet pulls, etc.  Brad handled the installation, the monitoring of the granite installation, the set up of the new appliances, etc.  He served as our GM on the project which is very helpful when you cannot be present.  He added trim work that matched the cabinets without additional charge.  He fixed some plastered areas in the kitchen when not required in the original contract.  He went above and beyond our original plan on what it would take to have the makeover complete. 


We also had an issue with cracked granite through another vendor, that he managed the resolution of for us, and would not accept payment until we received in writing what we sought from the granite installation firm as a means of restitution.


I highly recommend Bray Loy and would definitely use his services again!

Brad Loy and his wife Rhonda were wonderful to work with and made it a point to make things just the way I wanted them to look....project stayed exactly within budget and time restraints....although I made a few minor changes as the work progressed (vaulted ceiling on porch), Brad took it in stride and made everything exactly the way I wanted it! I was impressed with Brad's knowledge of every facet  of building, from carpentry, trim work, painting, electrical, and plumbing...he also installed a dehumidifier downstairs in the cottage that has made a wonderful difference in air quality....I am truly glad I found someone with his expertise regarding the overall appearance and health of my cottage!  The finished porch transformed my cottage and is a huge success!  I would definitely hire Brad again.

Brad Loy is a reputable and skilled contractor who completed a number of significant projects at our beach home on the Outer Banks, NC between 2012 and 2014.  We were so pleased with the quality of his work on a storm repair project in 2012, that we hired him to build a beautiful two bedroom/ two bath free standing pool house to compliment the existing 1980 beach house and along with that, a concrete in-ground pool.  
Being so pleased with the new addition and pool, we recently hired him to replace some of the exterior siding, remodel bathrooms and complete several other jobs to update and enhance the property .  He is a person with integrity, patience, and a true desire to make the homeowner happy that they chose him as their builder.   We have found his pricing to be very fair.  Specifically our projects were:

• Interior and Exterior storm repairs in 2012: $5,000

Two bedroom addition, decking, and in-ground concrete pool in 2013: $150,000
Interior and exterior remodeling on existing 1980 beach house in 2014: $12,000

Brad Loy has done superb work for me once before so I had him come back again to repair my falling plaster.  Our house is older so some things are obviously going to need repair.  In this case it was our living room ceiling.  The ceiling is over 15 feet high.  This required staging of scaffolding in order to do the work.  To make matters worse for the contractor, our living room is on the third floor of the house.  Brad was once again meticulous in setting up his scaffolds & creating a plastic shield around them to encapsulate the dust as he performed his work.  I have heard horror stories of how most contractors make such a mess anytime they attempt a job similar to this.  That was not the case with this contractor.  He took the time & effort to ensure all prep work was as it should be all the while minimizing the dust as much as possible.  I was very pleased with his insistance on keeping the house clean while he worked.

The final product required new plaster to be sprayed into place once the old flaking, falling was removed, area sanded, & painted to prepare the surface for new plaster.  Could not be happier with the final product.  You would not be able to tell where the repair was done at if you saw the ceiling. 

As far as pricing, once again, Mr. Loy was very reasonable, especially considering all that went into this job.  I would highly recommend this contractor to others for whatever service they may need, from remodel to building of a new house.  I have heard from a neighbor (Brad Loy build their house) that Brad is the best.  Based on my experience thus far I cannot disagree. 

Brad had a lot to do with a strict time frame/deadline. He completed the job on time with out sacrificing quality. He has a strong network of top quality subs ( plumbers, electricians, even interior designers) but is very much a "hands on" contractor.  As the norm, he is first man on the job site and the last one to leave.
He provided me with detailed billing every week, so there was no question about monies on such a large project.
I recommend Brad to all my friends who are considering any type of home building project, from renovations to new build. You can find pictures of the work he did on my house on his website. It turned out beautiful and the quality is second to none.

I would recommend Brad Loy to anyone who is considering any type of remodeling / building.  Brad has always been courteous, timely and very cost conscious. 
Unlike other builders who sub everything out,and rarely on the job site. Brad is hands on and constantly striving for satisfaction and perfection.
I really cant say enough about how satisfied I am with every project that he did for me.  Last year I actually had a rental property that caught fire. Brad was extremely helpful working with me in providing an estimate and caught many items the insurance adjuster missed.  Unfortunately I have still been fighting with the bank and adjuster to get the proper funds to fix the property to the condition it needs to be. I know when this finally gets resolved there is only person that I would trust for this project and that would be Brad Loy.

Brad Loy was recommended to me by a neighbor.  Apparently Mr. Loy was the builder of my neighbor's house.  My neighbor has had nothing but good things to say about Brad Loy since I met him about 6 months ago now.  I purchased my house back in August of 2013.  It has been vacant for approximately 5 years.  During this time, coupled with the age of the house a plumbing league developed over our foyer.  It caused unsightly black mold that became visible throught the wall board.  When I poked at the area with a broom handle I created a hole in the ceiling.  With concerns about a reputable contractor I asked my neighbor for a recommendation.  Upon recommendation I contacted Mr. Loy concerning a small job involving the repair to the ceiling in my foyer.  Mr. Loy arrived on time as we agreed on to do the work.  He quickly masked off the ceiling, put canvas down on the floor, plastic up around the work area and got to work.  He emphasized his desire to not allow any airborne particles to escape into my home as a result of his work.  I was impressed with the time that he spent to insure he had in essence created a bubble within my foyer to work, capturing the deteriorated wallboard, and black mold that he carefully removed.  After the removal process he cut out new wallboard, taped and plastered the repaired area.  He pointed out that he was using special plaster to match my existing ceiling texture.  I discovered through our conversation that he has 28 years of experience as a bulider and has done many similar jobs over the years.  When completed he made sure to clean up & remove all debris that was generated by the work that he had done.  I was extremely satisfied with the final product, Brad's professionalism, his polite manner, costs, etc.   I would highly recommend him to others when in need of a builder or for repairs.

As our contractor, he was extremely receptive to our ideas and wishes.  Brad was on the job most of the time and the people he had working on our remodel were personable, professional and top-notch.  Brad's employees took great care with our personal belongings and furniture.  The work was done in a proficient manner and in a timely fashion.  We were completely satisfied with the work done and would definitely recommend Brad Loy to our friends and associates.

As you can see Brad has done many jobs for me over the years.  He is one of the very few contractors that was willing to do small or large jobs.  There have been way more projects that Brad has performed for me over the years than there is space above to list them. His attention to detail and thoroughness is a unique quality on the Outer Banks for a builder. I lived on the Outer Banks for over 25 years, I never heard anyone speak ill of Brad or his workmanship. He is honest and hardworking.  He does not just oversee a job but is "hands on" as well on a daily basis. All the jobs Brad completed for me were finished in a timely manner and the quality was exceptional. Very few builders can claim both of those characteristics of their work.

I can only hope that my next project, he will have time to work me in.    

My experience with Brad was very pleasant during a job that can be extremely stressful. He was always punctual and courteous.He would keep me informed during each phase of the project and explain each process thoroughly. He estimated how long and what each phase would cost and kept it within those projections. When we ran across an unforeseen problem, (i.e.)mold, he showed me,explained the problem and what we needed to do to solve it. Brad took care of that problem at a fair cost and continued the job to completion. I was completely satisfied with the work Brad performed and the end result. I would recommend Brad highly for any building or remodel project you might have or be planning.

As I said it went very smoothly. Brad and his crew did outstanding work, the craftsmanship was excellent. There were no unexpected delays. We did not experience days when he did not show up, which is common here at the beach. The house was completed on time and in time to be rented for part the summer rental season.
Brad was very easy to work with and had many very good suggestions as to how to deal with certain situations. He has a very good knowledge about all aspects of not only home building but layout and how it effects movement within a house

Brad did an exceptional job.  The original "saltbox" house was built in 1973 and was in poor shape.  He totally gutted the inside of this structure, and rebuilt the window and door frames so he could replace the old ones  with hurricane specification- grade windows and doors. He grew up in Kitty Hawk, and used the best subcontractors in the area to do the plumbing, heating, electrical and carpentry work.  He negotiated the prices with each contractor and this saved thousands of dollars, when I compared his negotiated prices with other bids I had originally received for this project.  He and his assistant did all the new dry wall, painting, and counter and cabinet construction and installation.  Because of Brad's excellent relationship with individual construction craftsman, all the finishing work in the house was done beatifully at a much lower price than bids I recieved from other builders. 
Brad also worked with me and the architect to reeingineer the foundation pilings and supports under the old structure to exceed the building standards, and at the same time reduce the costs of the addtional plans for this part of the construction.  He always consulted me on any construction changes before he did them, so we worked closely together to improve such things as locations of light fixtures, replacement of the circuit box and pool filter and pumps, and the rerouting of venting to provided a better airflow.  I am extremely proud of my totally beautiful renovated beach house and am looking forward to living their full time within the next few years.  I would strongly recommend Brad Loy Builders to anyone who wants and appreciates quality construction.
