While he was here we got on the subject of my fireplace. He said he could reface the fireplace with stone. He said that it would cost about $1100.00, that seemed like a fair price and I agreed to have him do the work. He sent me a contract through email and I gave him $725.00 upfront. That was 2 months ago and I haven't seen him since. He said he ordered the materials from Lowe's I have since talked to them and he never ordered any materials. He cashed my check the very next day, and it is obvious that his only intention was to steal the money. He will not answer my phone calls and hasn't even started the work. I contacted the police but since I signed the contract they said I need to take him to small claims court. I have sent him several emails and even a certified letter. He hasn't even gone to pick up the letter. He is avoiding all contact with me so that he doesn't have to refund the money. He came and offered a service and took my money and left.
