Description of Work: At first thought Rick was great, showed up on time and very professional. He fixed the clock and took a small wooden side panel to have another made for the side that was missing one. Told me that I should hear back from him by September. In October I called him, also tried in November and December. I never received a call back. I also emailed him, did not get a response to the emails either. Did not notice when he was here in June but the chimes on the clock do not work correctly when ringing the time. I did not catch this when Rick was here, but my husband did notice it a few weeks later. Really glad I did not go ahead and rate this guy before the transaction was done. Now I fiqure it has been long enough.

Description of Work: Very professional. He arrived right on time and explained everything he was doing in taking the grandfather clock apart. He also fully explained his process for the cleaning and repairs to be done "back on the bench." He gave me some pointers for keeping the clock in good condition, and even explained some basic care and operational facts that I did not previously know. I would definitely recommend him. Rick is available directly, but you can also get info form Jamestown Jewelers (which is how I found him, after finding JJ in Angies List.) The staff at JJ was also very helpful in explaining the work that Rick does and offered to contact him for me and have him call me. That also worked out well.

Description of Work: Rick was able to look at my clock and diagnose it on the spot for me. I received the clock from my grandmother who hadn't had it working in years and now it chimes beautifully every 30 minutes.

Description of Work: I had an antique mantle clock that needed to be repaired as the main spring had broken. After looking at the few clock repair services in the Greater Greensboro area and also the Charlotte area I decided to go with Rick. I sent him a photo of the clock internal mechanism....told him it needed to be cleaned, oiled and repaired. Rick was prompt in returning my email with an estimate. I dropped the clock off with Rick on April 8, 2013. I had noticed that there were A LOT of clocks on his benches - apparently awaiting repair. After about 4 months I called him and asked if he was getting close to repairing my clock. He mentioned that he had been hospitalized and was about 8 months behind in repairs. Four more months went by and I called again and Rick noted that he had been hospitalized again and he was about 10 months behind. It took Rick over 1 year to get to my clock. In this rating I want to be fair with Rick and his business. He is one of the very few highly qualified clock repairmen in our area. And he is trustworthy and charges a fair price for repairs. I do not hold it against him for being hospitalized - which created a backlog in his work. I had the option of retrieving my clock and taking it somewhere else. But I didn't since two other clock repair shops quoted an estimate 2X that of Rick's. For anyone considering using Rick and his clock repair service - just ask him how long it will take for him to get to your clock. If it is too long you will need to look elsewhere - and, unfortunately, there are not many qualified antique clock repairmen in this Triad area. I am very pleased with Rick's work

Description of Work: I took 2 wall clocks to this shop for repair on May 2 2013. At that time I was told that he was running behind and it would be the end of August before they would be repaired. I reluctantly agreed to this schedule.

He was here right on time, completed the repair within an hour, and really gave my clock a tune up in addition to fixing the original problem (pendulum stopped swinging). His price was fair and consistent with what he estimated. I hope I don't need additional repairs but would not hesitate to call Rick again.

Description of Work: Went specifically to this Jewler based on information that he serviced clocks. The owner told me he HAD NEVER serviced a clock in his life !! Kind of a waste of my time. He did make a phone call to someone he claims does fix clocks, but I hesitate to entrust anyone with my grandfather clock repairs or even advice at this point. Told the original jewler he needed to update his advertisements.

Description of Work: Rick made a house call to our home to repair a Ridgeway Grandfather clock I had recently moved from my parents house to my house. I communicated with Rick via e-mail about the problem and was able to provide some pictures of the clock and the broken part (the pendulum suspension spring). We set up a date for Rick to come out and perform the service. From the pictures Rick was able to determine what part to bring on the services call. We set the time for the service call at 6:00 pm on Nov. 14. This date was chosen because I was going to be out of town the week prior to that time. Rick was very prompt by showing up at the house at exactly 6:00pm, but somehow got the date wrong and showed up a week early while I was out of town. He did quickly and professionally repair the clock as well as clean and oil it. It only took one trip and the clock has worked perfectly ever since. I also have a brass ships clock that has frozen and will be taking it to Rick to repair.

Description of Work: Repair and or replacement of bent parts inside of a reproduction Ben Franklin clock that was damaged during transport. Repair included straightening clock frame, replacement of second hand assembly, replacement of various pins that held frame together, repair of front face.

Description of Work: Rick rebuilt a 1890-1910 era Sessions movement from a family grandfather clock for us.
