After 28 years our wooden back deck had gone from eyesore to safety hazard and needed replacing. After reading the reviews here on Angie’s List we contacted Neil through his website. The next day he called us and set up a meeting for later that afternoon. He and his trusty sidekick showed up exactly on time. They took many measurements and asked many questions and we settled on size, design, and materials. Later that evening we got an e-mail from him with a quote that we considered quite reasonable. The next day he came over again and we signed the quote and settled on a start date.
He and his trusty sidekick showed up on time again and got right to work. The only reason it took longer than planned was because Mother Nature had to stick her nose in. Power tools and thunderstorms are a poor mix. I got to watch the entire process from demo to last nail and to say we are pleased would be an understatement. There is not even a hint of shake or bounce. And all gaps and joints are straight and true and it looks terrific. I feel we got more than our money’s worth. And after they finished and left, except for a couple of bare spots in the lawn around the deck you wouldn’t have known they had been there.
Would we use him again? Definitely. Would we recommend him? Definitely.
"This is totally totally inaccurate, This was a house painting job in the amount of 6,800 dollars, I had got a 3400 dollars deposit for materials, I purchased materials and started painting this is a vacation rental home and she informed me that there would be a week and then people coming in I told her that I could work around that. I painted for 4 days and 1 day was a rain out, We also did alot of wood replacement also, We had got 60% done and she called me to tell me that she had got it rented for the remaining of the summer and I told her I needed about 4 days to finish and she said it would have to wait until Oct. I told her no it has to be finished now and why did she book it for the next week knowing that I had 1 week to finish it she informed me that she needs to make her money too. I then said fine call me in Oct. she did in fact call me and told me she wanted someone else to finish the job I said OK but seeing that 60% was done there isn't any refund due. so as far as her saying that I took the money and did nothing that was totally false and I do have pictures of before the work was done and pictures from everyday we painted to prove it. I would never and have never taken anyone's money and not performed the work, My reports can contest to that thank You"
"I replaced all the facial boards he wanted and there were no holes in them I called them to come back and look at the gutters and when I showed up there was no one home, 2 days later I went back and found no one to be home again. He went around and inspected all our work when it was completed and was satisfied at that time."
Neal and John were very professional and did an outstanding job in a short amount of time. My house, shed and walkway looks great.
He also cleaned the gutters and powerwashed the walkway. He didn't charge additional money for these other tasks. I will definitely call on him again and I will recommend him to others.
First, he did not get back to me, so I wrote to him a few times. Then, I had him come out to give me estimates and show him exactly what I wanted done.
A few days later I came home to see that the piece of siding had been removed and the wood was left exposed all day in the rain! He did not even tape a garbage bag over it for protection. I saw that my garbage can was under the area and had been used as a ladder to reach the siding. He broke the garbage can.
He said he had to order the siding- but it was just one piece of the popular blue vinyl found all over town! He also said he would replace the garbage can and said he called the garbage company, but a new can never arrived!
Then, he pulled the bushes from the ground, but left them in the garden. They were too heavy for me to move and I found roots from the bushes still in the garden! I called and he made the excuse that he thought I wanted to keep the bushes-----I had poured ground clear on these bushed and chopped them down to nothing trying to remove them myself before resorting to hiring someone. WHY is the world would I want to keep dead stubs?
I called him and told him I was disappointed and that I wanted him to either complete the job or compromise a price for a job half completed. He didn't call or message for a week or so and e-mailed 3 times and called 3 times.
Finally, he left me a message saying I had to pay the $100 because he did the work and claimed to have called me and left several voicemails (this is not true). I said if I paid him full price for a job half done that I would not have him back to do the other jobs I had discussed with him and that I would have to leave a bad reivew. He wrote back saying that I said I would complete the work (LOL) and that I should consider the work he did a gift. What I actually said was that I would try to remove the bushes from the area so that I could complete my patio, but that he needed to come dispose of them. That's when I found the roots and the rest of the job incomplete!
So, I offered to compromise a fair price and he decided it was a gift. I guess in some twisted way he thinks that means he was right in all this. His communication skills and quick, thoughtless reactions seem to cost him a lot of business.
I obviously will not use this man again. I told him not to return to my property and that I will hire someone else to complete the siding and garden jobs.
"First of all she asked me to pull the bushes which I did and she said she was doing the landscaping herself and just wanted to remove the bushes, the vinyl siding was removed to get a color match and she's wrong is saying it was found anywhere it was not it had to be ordered, siding blows off of houses all the time and its left uncovered for sometimes weeks so the one day it was off didn't matter, the next day I went and put the old piece back up till the new piece arrived, what it comes down too is she wanted to get more of her landscaping done at the cost of just pulling the bushes, I did not charge her for any of the work that was done, and would let any contractor that does work for her in the future to get it all in writing."
"Went back twice and noone was home I don't go on people's property unless they are home"
