Goebel Construction

I was having new counter tops installed and after removal of the old tops I was told the cabinets were not level enough to complete the job. Since the company installing the new counter tops would not do any kind of leveling I looked on Angie's list and contacted local contractors to get estimates on the job. I called Dennis at 1:00 and explained the situation to him. He said he was tied up on another job but could come out after 4:00 that afternoon. He showed up about ten minutes early, looked over what was needed and said he could come out the following morning. He showed up the next morning and finished the work in a few hours. He went above and beyond what I expected and I will use him for my other projects coming up in the near future.

Ours is a big old house built in the 50's with very little insulation, so when the insurance company paid us to repair the roof after acknowledging hail damage, we decided to kill two birds with one stone and have the roof raised above the upstairs ceiling by 6 inches which would allow for enough space to install R30 insulation plus some room for some air flow. We used Angie's list to identify reputable contractors in the area. With the exception of contractors living nearby we selected only those with an A rating on Angie's list. We quickly learned that many roofers won't do roofing and construction, and that all had some very different opinions on how to properly insulate the roof. We even had one that suggested that special shingles he would install would give us the insulation we wanted. Estimates varied considerably. We ultimately settled on Goebel construction, one of the locals who was listed on Angie's List but had no rating. More than all the others Mr. Goebel was willing to go along with what we wanted and with the help of his partner and wife quickly adjust his estimates as we vacillated over time on different ways of getting the job done. His estimates came within my own calculations and expectations. His team of carpenters did a quick and professional job of installing the additional rafters and installing the needed insulation, and we were very pleased with the way the roof was re-shingled. Mr. Goebel did most of the trim work himself, installing solar fans, windows, and siding on the dormers. The whole job was completed from start to finish in two weeks and the clean up was thorough. There were some additional things we requested outside the contract as the job progressed, and Mr. Goebel made sure that we were made aware of what those costs would be up front so that there would be no surprises. We also had a metal roof on one of our barns completely replaced.
