Unfortunately, I am unable to give Fun Outdoor Living a “zero star” because that is what is truly deserved from my project experiences. Below are items that occurred on a project at my home that cost near $70,000. 1. The subcontractors do not ring generally ring the doorbell. Many show up starting to work without saying anything as if they own your property. A couple subcontractors stated that Fun Outdoor Living (FOL) advised them to NOT interact with the customer. 2. Many times I had to initiate communication with FOL. There are days when no one shows and no one from FOL calls to explain why. Many time it felt I managing the project instead of the FOL. 3. Many time FOL staff stated they will call back or text but never do. It got to the point whenever they said that you knew it wasn’t going to happen. 4. Stone was ordered two months before it was needed. This stone sat in front of my house for about 2 months. I received an HOA (Home Owners Association) violation letter because the stone was stored in front of my home for the extended period of time. 5. Many times I cleaned up trash left from FOL staff and FOL subcontractors. FOL only cleaned up about three times during the entire project and it wasn’t a thorough job. 6, Two footers for the new patio roof was extended after the footing inspection. If required to be re-inspected, I did not see the where the extended footers took place. 7. A Fun Outdoor Living (FOL) employee used WD-40 to wipe off and try to clean concrete residue and construction debris from the cutting of the concrete for the footers off of my hardie siding and two door trims. This smeared grease all over my siding and trim area. FOL and an FOL subcontractor attempted to clean and paint this area but the results look terrible. The entire area under the roof was suppose to be painted but there are visible paint brush marks where it was just touched up and the entire area under the roof was noticeably not painted in its entirety. 8. An FOL employee ****** on the side of my house between the HVAC units and when asked he said he was just checking out something. But it was a lie because no HVAC work was part of the project. There was also FOL staff on a couple other occasions coming from the back of the property line where there is a wooded area. No work was part of the project in the woods. I am guessing maybe they also ****** in the rear of the property since there was no other reason to be back there. 9. FOL does or provide their staff any boot covers nor does the subs use any boot covers either. As a result, I had clay stains on my front porch, on my driveway, around portions of my concrete pool deck, and on the travertine. Many times I was the cleaning crew who cleaned up after both FOL staff and FOL subs on multiple occasions. . 10. FOL was to order and obtain a Bull 11001 refrigerator. But when it was time to install it, FOL had no refrigerator. They had no idea when they could get one. I was forced to purchase a refrigerator externally and received it in two days as a customer. FOL being a supplier couldn’t even get their hands on the same item that I obtained very easily. You would think that the refrigerator would have been procured months prior since they had about 3 months to get the refrigerator they recommended. 11. Also, if you are promised anything by FOL staff at any level, get it in writing. If you don’t, it may not happen. 12. Also, read your contract and information very throughly. Because it may read that damage to your landscaping, for example, will not be resolved by FOL. You may need correct the issues yourself or hire a professional to correct the issues. The above is just some initial examples and snapshots of my experiences with FOL. This has been shared with the highest level of FOL staff and will not come as a surprise to them. I can only reflect on the above experiences and many other experiences that I will recall and add later on.

Good at selling but poor support post sale. Firepit stones cracked. Support team would not even come and look at it. Told me I had too big of a fire? Said they would help me for $200. Need a project? Look for support first and then buy. Shop Around!

I selected the company because they have a history of great reviews on Angie's list and an excellent BBB rating. I had a couple of communication challenges with the project manager, but the John the owner quickly jumped in and made sure everything was taken care of quickly and to my satisfaction. It is obvious John takes great pride in the professionalism and quality of work produced by his workers. I suspect the project manager was having an off week because he has received several other glowing reviews from others. The final quality of work met my expectations and I would certainly hire them again or recommend them to others.

Went extraordinarily well from beginning to and Andre and his team were superb. Very professional very punctual and make sure we felt good with all of the work they were going to do. We are so pleased with her patio and with the work that Andre did and his attention to detail. I worked with a lot of other contractors and companies in the past usually a nightmare, this was not the case with fun outdoor living! We would totally use them again and recommend them to friend!

The problem was fixed with our spa.

This was the second hot tub we purchased from Fun Outdoor Living as we loved the Pinnacle spa.  The sales process was friendly (Andre) and we felt like we got a great deal.  However, the after-sale service was a little frustrating.  The company drops off the tub and relies on their recommended electrician to provide the hot tub orientation (electrician does great work and is reasonably priced).  The electrician walked us through key items to remember and do once the hot tub was filled.  However, after following the steps we had continuous issues with getting the hot tub clear and chemicals balanced for the next month. 

When calling the office, the representative told us to drain the tub and add some new chemicals or call the Pinnacle spa help line for further issues (FYI - called the helpline, left two messages, and never received a response).  We were told we would be charged a fee to come out (granted this is within 30 days of dropping off the tub) since it wasn't considered a warranty issue and Fun Outdoor doesn't offer chemical supplies or water maintenance.  After spending over $100 on chemicals and researching the issue on Google, we determined our water had too much metal in it.  The owner at a different hot tub company locally was extremely helpful, taking the time to test our water (for free), recommend the right chemicals, and validate some of the things we found on Google.  Now, after 4 months of having the hot tub, we still love the Pinnacle spa and the water is balanced (had to buy a permanent filter addition to remove water hardness and metals).  It does help to educate yourself on hot tubs as they are not the easiest to maintain or understand. 

Upon expressing some concerns on the service, Andre personally called and apologized and noted this is not the service level to be expected.  We will continue to go through Fun Outdoor for our service needs as they do understand the product the best.

The support designing our patio lead us to a finished product we love. The quality of the hot tub and furniture as well as the knowledge of this product was helpful and accurate. The end product patio is excellent showing detailed and skilled workmanship. The only downside of the whole project was lack of prompt communication and listening. All that said we have a hot tub, furniture and patio we are thrilled with and without this companies help we may not have gotten to this outcome.

Andrey was our salesperson and was very knowledgeable and helpful. Was very good with returning my calls and answering our questions. The workers came out and worked very fast and hard and was able to complete the job in two days. They were very good with clean up. The patio and firepit looks amazing with the beautiful travertine. We get tons of compliments.

Our sales rep re-contacted us about our project and came out straight away to see what the problem was and talk to us about it. One look and he immediately understood the problem with the newly constructed path not curving into the corral for the trash and recycle bins as it was supposed to. He apologized again for the communication issues we had with the project manager and not only promised to have the pathway reconfigured to go into the corral, he said he would also put down a matching platform for the bins which we had opted not to do initially due to cost. (We planned to get less expensive paver pads elsewhere for the platform.)
Due to weather issues, we had not been able to schedule a time to have the project completed but I got a call yesterday that a crew was in the area and had a little extra time would it be ok if they completed our paver project. Yesterday happened to be trash day in our neighborhood. I was DELIGHTED to get home and be able to roll my trash can easily into the corral.

Our project, other than painting the deck, looks great! We are very pleased with the new walkway, addition of the trash/recycle bin corral and configuration of the new deck. Once the deck is painted, it will all look fabulous! Thanks to Andrey Fleishmann, our sales rep, our project has come together and we are very pleased. We would work with Andrey again.

I purchased a Hot Spring hot tub from Fun Outdoor Living. They were a pleasure to deal with from purchase, to delivery through installation. This is the second project they have completed for us and we highly recommend. They have also completed other projects in our sub division and all seem very pleased.

It went well.  They delivered the hot tub on time and installed it with no trouble.  They showed us how to use it and how to use the chemicals.

John was absolutely fantastic to work with. His attention to detail and professionalism were second to none. We use our porch 7 days a week and continue to get compliments from everyone who visits.

It came in a week later than previously thought, but we were informed throughout the whole process.

The installers from Fun Outdoor Living were beyond excellent! Not only professional and very knowledgeable, they were very accommodating and also had good personalities.

I have used this vendor before when I owned a home in Huntersville. 
Extremely professional service, great crew (polite, cleaned up daily, etc).  A project manager is assigned to coordinate and manage the entire project. They always have sufficient hands on site to complete the work quickly.  My neighbor even commented on how many people were working on the project, how well built it is and how quick they were getting it done. The quality of the deck is awesome. I think the house will come down before the deck would.  Price was higher than I expected, However, I am definately getting what I am paying for.  They provided drawings, full written estimates, worked with the HOA and city for permits, etc.
If you are doing ANYTHING outside (deck, hot tub, patio's, firepits, firewalls or fireplaces, THIS IS THE COMPANY I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Working with Fun Outdoor Living has been a great experience, mostly because of John, who was regularly stopping by and making sure the project was on track. Changing things on the go was a huge relief, this was something I wanted to only do once and as the project progressed there were certain ideas we definitely wanted accommodated. You made it very simple to be flexible in order to make sure the finished project was exactly as we wanted it.
Outside of the beautiful design and all the fun we have had out here, I can?t say one bad thing. This project has become the epicenter of our neighborhood, our kids are hanging out more often outside with us and the neighbors. The tvs are on less often, computers are closed down, phones are off and everyone is hanging out having a good time around our new outdoor living space enjoying time together. Thank you John and the great team at Fun Outdoor Living.

I would give them "A" all the way through. I would use them in the future.

John listened to what we wanted and provided us with a great design that met our budget.  His team did an excellent job constructing everything and the quality of work was very good.  Missed the planned schedule date, but that was due mostly to weather, beyond everyone's control. Was willing to change course on some details at no extra cost as the structure progressed.  He even made a small pad for my trashcans with the extra materials at no charge.  The only areas for improvement would be better control of the mess during the construction and better communications between his crews to prevent rework. Overall, we are very satisfied with the whole project and would recommend John highly.
