The job began on 6 July 2006 and was to last ten days. They said that the new wood should sit for one week before refinishing to adjust. Once they replaced the damaged and tile areas and the week of adjusting was almost over, they called and said that they wouldn't be there for and additional ten days because they were backed up with work. So now two weeks after they began they came to sand and refinish and we totally moved out during this work. We returned when they said it would be safe to walk on; when we turned on the lights we saw brights spots across the floor, the trim moulding was very rough. We call Shawn Carriker and he came and agreed to totally redo it; he said it was an inexperienced crew. He said he would have his best crew do the rework, then on the second day he sent back the original crew and one other lead man. When I called Shawn and said I wanted them gone, he began to scream at me saying he wanted them to learn from their mistakes. Moved back in 7 Aug. 2006.
Description of Work: Replace damaged areas of hardwood flooring, remove tile flooring and replace with hardwood then refinish all hardwood areas.

WE ALWAYS WAIT A MINIMUM OF 7 DAYS AND PREFERABLY LONGER AFTER INSTALLATION BEFORE WE SAND ANY OF OUR JOBS TO ALLOW FOR ACCLIMATION. WE DISCOVERED A PROBLEM WITH PREVIOUS FINISH CONTAMINATION WHEN WE APPLIED NEW FINISH ON THIS JOB. WE MET WITH THE MEMBER AND LET HIM KNOW THAT WE WOULD DO WHATEVER NEEDED TO CORRECT THE SITUATION AT OUR EXPENSE. WHEN OUR WORKERS ARRIVED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM ALONG WITH OUR TOP SUPERVISOR TO OVERSEE THE JOB, THE MEMBER ASKED US TO LEAVE. WE TALKED TO HIM AND RESOLVED THE SITUATION WITH THE WORKERS AND COMPLETED THE JOB. THE END RESULT WAS A BEAUTIFUL FLOOR. SOME PEOPLE UNFORTUNATELY DO NOT HAVE A GRASP OF REAL WORLD SITUATIONS. WE DID NOT INSTALL A TOTALLY NEW FLOOR HERE, ONLY A SMALL AREA. WE MOSTLY REFINISHED AN EXISTING PRODUCT. IF THAT PRODUCT HAS HIDDEN DAMAGE OR HIDDEN CONTAMINATES AS IN THIS CASE, WE WILL NOT KNOW IT UNTIL WE BEGIN TO APPLY OUR FINISH COATS. WE DID NOT INSTALL THE MAJORITY OF THE FLOORS IN THIS HOUSE. THE ONLY PROBLEMS THAT WE HAD WERE ON EXISTING AREAS OF THE REFINISHED FLOORS. WHEN WE LEFT THE MEMBER TOLD US THAT EVERYTHING WAS SATISFACTORY AND PAID US FOR OUR WORK. WE DID NOT CAUSE THE PROBLEM IN THIS CASE AND ARE BEING UNFAIRLY BLAMED FOR SOMETHING THAT WE DID NOT CREATE. I BELIEVE THAT THE MEMBER WAS ANGRY AT US FOR CORRECTING THIS SITUATION AND WOULD RATHER THAT WE LEFT SO THAT HE DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY WORK PERFORMED. HOWEVER WE STAYED AT OUR EXPENSE TO CORRECT THIS JOB AND TO PRESERVE OUR GOOD REPUTATION.
