Met with Terry, the landscape designer at Dearness Gardens, to discuss design options for our backyard.  We recently (March 2015) had all of our trees and wild brush removed and wanted to start fresh.  Terry came over the same day I called him, which was really great.  I told him what we were looking for.....lots of color, filtered privacy, and low maintenance.  He quickly came up with some ideas and helped me visualize it by painting in bed borders and marking where each plant would go.  He took some notes and made a drawing before he left.  I then met with him at Dearness Gardens a few days later to see the plants and trees he had in mind.
The crew came to do the job within 2 weeks of my initial contact.  The first day they planted the larger trees.  The second day they finished the rest of the plants and laid the river rock to address our drainage issues.  They also started mulching on the second day, and finished on the third day.  I will also mention that I called Terry early morning on the third day and asked if they could also mulch the front of our house.  I know they were crunched for time, but when I got home from work, I saw that they were able to fit it in.  And Terry didn't charge us anymore to do it.  What a nice gesture!  We certainly didn't expect that.
Our new trees, shrubs, and other plants look awesome!  The river rock is attractive as well.  We are very pleased with how it turned out and would definitely recommend Dearness Gardens to anyone with landscaping needs.  While I never met the crew that did the work, I did notice how clean they left the property when finished for the day.  I never had to clean up after them, which was so nice.  They did a great job!

I've used them in the past for planting trees but I haven't done that recently.  They were very knowledgeable and rendered good service.

We have used them quite a bit.  They were great to work with.  The people there are extremely helpful.  They have great products there.  I liked the help that we got from people there.  They have been very helpful.  We have had to replace some new trees because the trees didn’t do well.  They are expensive.

I have two friends that have used Dearness Gardens one that lives right across the street from me. I had watched this company from start to finish on my neighbors yard and had felt the job they did there was exceptional. I called Dearness and requested Terry, the man that did my neighbors yard to come out and give me his ideas and to come up with a plan. I immediately liked his approach and his wealth of knowledge of plants that would do well in all the areas of my yard. He gave me reasons as to why certain plants would not work, sun, lack of sun, too many tree roots...etc. he measured the areas that I wanted work done...and then called me a few days later with the drawings and his ideas of what plants to place and where to extend existing beds. Terry came up with ideas that were interesting architecturally and that fit with the design of my home. I wanted low maintenance and color year round.

I went to the nursery and we walked around picking plants, colors and even changing a few things as I saw plants that we both felt would enhance his original design.

I hired Dearness gardens because of its local reputation and I asked for Terry specifically for the work I had seen him do at my neighbors yard and his vision for my yard. I made the right choice. When the job began he was right there digging...planting and making sure the plans we had come up with went in exactly as he had designed. This was a big job. Lots of old plantings coming out . Irrigation lines that had to be dug up and put back in, boulders placed for interest...etc. the end result is gorgeous. It is exactly what I wanted but did not have the ability to articulate. Terry was patient with me as I tried to make decisions. He returned all my calls quickly and gave me up dates on when the job would begin. The crew that he worked with was polite, professional and did a superior job. They cleaned up made sure that nothing was out of place when they left.

I have used them many times. They are fabulous. They are the best in this area. They are knowledgeable and have the best products.  They are a great nursery. They have a lot of products they can design.

Badly

The landscaper, Justin, chose easy care plants for the garden beds. Their place of business in Huntersville, is a great source for plants, bushes, or trees. They also have gardening supplies, containers, and a gift shop. The containers on display are always beautiful. They are a very talented bunch of people. Great company.

We were very satisfied with them. They were very good. We especially liked the guy that came out and spoke with us. He couldn't have been better. The guys that came out to do the planting did their job and they were great. They told us what we should do such as watering. Our experience was great and we have gone back there since. The price was right on for everything that we got. The quality was excellent and they were very responsive and punctual. They were very professional. We were very happy with everything they did.

Visited Dearness Gardens to purchase native landscaping plants. The employee who helped us was extremely informative, friendly and took time to seek out handouts for us regarding native plants. Although some of the items seem very expensive compared to other places we've visited, the selection is great and the staff very helpful. We will visit them again.

EVEN THOUGH I THINK THEY ARE A LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE, I THINK THEY ARE WORTH IT, BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE! THEY'LL TELL YOU ANYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW!
