Cams Electric Service & Sales

Electrical for Home Addition or Remodel Installation, Electrical for Home Addition, Electrical Wiring or Panel Upgrade,

About us

CAMS Electric is named after my daughters my wife and myself explanation- Camryn is my youngest,Aubrey is my oldest,my wife is Misty and of course I am Sam. I just took the first letter from all our names to make CAMS then added Electric to the end. My company is owner operated meaning I am personally on every job to make sure it is done right and the customer is satisfied 100% . I have one employee that works with me,we both are very polite and respectful of our customers needs and wants. My rates are as follows the standard service call fee is $70.00 first hour and then $60 for every hour after that,so if I was in your home for 1 1/2 hours and used no parts your bill would be $100 labor only . I do not mark up my parts to the customer and I even give the customer the chance to provide there own lights an things if they want to. I also give quoted prices for complete jobs that people may want done. I will respond to emergency calls and after hours calls. All after hours calls are a flat rate of $105 per hour every hour. I do offer free estimates within 10-15 miles from my office, other than that estimate is $25 that is taken off the job if I am awarded the work (not on service call repairs).I am fully licensed to perform electrical work in the residential market and I am fully insured, liability, auto, worker compensation.

Sam and his counterpart or "helper" as he calls him, arrived on time for the quote. Unfortunately when they came out to do the work, he realized installing the recessed lights would be more difficult than he thought due to the small space in between floors and crawl space. He did not say this but I know he should have charged way more than he did but he is an honest man and stood by his quote. I'm not going to discuss why I graded low on punctuality because in my experience with any contractor, they are ALWAYS behind. He did have some legit reasons for being late but no need to discuss. It happens so just try to be flexible if you hire him or any contractor. Sam is really good with walking you through a plan or design of the layout of the recessed lights. He made the right decision on placement of all the lights and suggested an appropriate track light and under cabinet lights for our home. While he was here I mentioned the pendent light bulbs kept blowing out so he fixed the electrical portion and bought specialized lights for the type we have. I purchased non-hard wired under cabinet lights and they were able to turn them into hard wired lights and hid all the cords perfectly. Mentioned the garage door light flickering and although that's not his expertise he took a look at it and fixed that too! The total job took 2 days. A few days after the installation, one of the recessed lights blew out which scared me. I sent him a text at 8PM and he immediately texted back to say he would be out the next day to take a look at it. He arrived on time and could not find anything wrong with the fixture, just a faulty bulb. Sam is a very nice Christian man, and very considerate. They cleaned up after they were done with the installation. He did give me a coupon for $100 off a future project for the delay on the first day of the project. I feel I got a great bargain and will hire Sam in the future and will refer him to anyone I know. I can't guarantee such a good bargain as I received since his quote ended up being way under the man hours he put into the project.

The electrician was here approximately 40 minutes.  He assessed the problem and suggested the most economical way to fix it and charged only for the service call.  I would highly recommend this young business man.

Came out the same day for site survey and estimate. Showed up on time, gave his recommendation, and completed the work very competently. Took no short cuts to ensure everything met code. Very pleasant and respectful, answered any questions I had prior to continuing the work. Actual price was less than Sam estimated. My wife was very pleased with the final product.

I have had several unpleasant experiences with electricians in my area. Thus, I had been researching, looking for a reputable electrician to do some things I want to have done. I found CAMS Electric on Angie's list, the comments sounded positive and promising, and I made a note of the name. Then I found that the motor to the whirlpool tub would not come on. I called plumbers and found the problem was not within their scope: referred me to a pool or spa business. Then I decided to call CAMS Electric. I got in touch with Sam, quickly, on March 8; and he said that he could help if the problem was in the supply of power, not if it was the motor itself. We agreed that he would come out to see if he could find the problem. On March 9, Sam came in the time frame agreed upon. Both he and Bobby, his assistant, were pleasant, professional, and courteous, making me comfortable to have them in my home. They immediately went to work, assessing the situation. They checked the motor and found no problem. Sam worked inside, determining that power was going to the motor. Bobby went under the house and found the problem, embarrassingly quickly: in the crawl space, there was a switch controlling the whirlpool motor; and it was turned off. Plumbers who had installed new faucets in my master bath, a few weeks before, had turned the switch off and failed to turn it back on. In addition, they had damaged the flexible return duct to the heating unit, leaving it disconnected--after apparently trying to duct tape it, and had not told me. Bobby found that and reported it to me, saving me from future problems in connection with this. (I called my heat and A/C company. They came quickly to repair that, at a cost of about $200.00, reporting that the damage had not yet caused further damage.) CAMS' charge was $75.00 for the service call, which seems to be the low-to-norm range in my area. He, also, gave me an estimate for work that I plan to have done, at my convenience. I'm still very cynical--to wit, the plumbers in this case, with this case being a repeat of the pattern with that company. But I was pleased with CAMS Electric on this occasion; and I relaxed enough that I intend to have them come back to do more work.

Update:  Within 3 to 6 months of this report, I called CAMS Electric to come back for further work.  This time, after setting up a time to come, they were a no-show and subsequent calls were not returned.  I located another electrician.

They arrived at the appointed time and checked every outlet to try to find the source of the problem,my home is older so I have never had the box checked and somewhere the line was not working so we agreed that the box really needed to be replaced as I was concerned about fire problems,They came in replaced and rewired in a professional manner, I was well pleased with their overall work and clean up,and would definantly use this company again.

I found Mr. Carter online and had some reviews from other customers. I called for an estimate and was pleasede with the price and the friendliness of Mr. Carter. He explained that he could not complete the work until the following Saturday because he was booked. He contacted me as promised on Saturday afternoon and was here within the hour. The work was completed in a timely manner and he was very professional and cleaned up after himself. I pleased with the quality and will contact him for some other projects I have in mind.
