Fence and gate were in need of replacement due to rot. I tore the old fence and gate out myself. I actually had another contractor bid and he came in at the same price. However, he wanted to use lower quality fencing material. New Day Fence used 1" pickets and 6x6's to hold the gate. The other contractor suggested the thinner pickets available at Home Depot and 4x4's for the posts. What I got was a far sturdier structure for the $$. Two reasons i did not give them a higher rating; 1) One of the pickets apparently had damage and they sawed it in half lengthwise. They then came in a day later and installed another half picket instead of replacing the entire picket. I'm not sure why they simply did not replace the entire picket? 2) They did not show up and did not call the first week they estimated they would be there. When i called, he came the next day. My experience has been that 90% of small contractors rarely show up or call if their going to miss their initial estimated date so this was not a huge deal to me.

The fence he put in wasn't approved by the city so he had to come back and re-do it. We had put a pool in that had been approved by the city, and he put a fence around that pool, but the laws had changed and I don't think he could have known.

Work was started as promised and completed quickly, with minimum mess. The fence is well done and sturdy. The estimate/cost was about $1000 less than the other companies we had give estimates.
