***They are currently being investigated by the NC Landscape Contractors Licensing Board, case #24.253.U, for illegally performing landscaping projects without a license that are greater than $30k (NC threshold for licensing). *** BEWARE!!! This company is not trustworthy or competent. Initially, I thought I had hired a well-qualified company (based on what I now assume were family reviews), who seemed to value quality work (itâ s in their name), integrity, and quoted a competitive cost. As my project started, and I watched their work, it became clear that this company, led by Gabriel Antunez (Address Removed),
[email protected]), his brother Luis Toledo (Address Removed) and projected managed by his young son Osiel Antunez Nunez, provided everything EXCEPT honest and quality work. The architect and lead builder was Salvador â Chavaâ Lopez (Address Removed),
[email protected]). My total project was $70k+ and I would constantly have to challenge attempted corner-cutting to make sure it was done correctly and if I didnâ t catch the mistakes in time, it was simply too late. Gabriels brother, (Address Removed), who works for the City Of Durham, handled the initial quote and customer interface throughout the course of the project. Cecilio had a positive demeanor until he was challenged with something that was done incorrectly, at which point he would deflect, make excuses, and defer to TLC to make a call, as if he had no power. Cecilio had also got aggressive at several points during the project, when there was significant pushback on real issues. Although the initial quote was competitive, TLC would upcharge and nickel-and-dime for every minor change requested during the project, including some changes which would be less work so, the final cost was not that competitive. But, worst of all, TLC does NOT stand behind their work. Once they have your check and leave your home, they are NOT coming back! They built a bench around my firepit that initially looked nice when completed, but within a couple months started falling apart. I notified TLC of the issue and stated that I believed it was happening because the foundation was not properly prepared as I had mentioned to the team when they were building it. TLC reluctantly did a touch up job on the obviously impaired area of the bench, but did NOT address the underlying foundation issue, even though I protested and said I expected the issue to return. As expected, the bench started falling apart again within a month, this time in more areas, and TLC said they would never return to my property, essentially stating it was my fault the bench was failing and not their responsibility. I now have formal complaints filed against TLC with the NCDOJ, NC Licensing Board, and NC Landscape Contractors Licensing Board. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTSâ youâ ve been warned!
