Fine, although I thought $75 for the part was expensive.

First of all the Crossbuck storm door was ordered without checking with me on the option of the location of the door closure when I specifically advised her to order all options to comply with what was being replaced. Ms. Harris ordered the Crossbuck storm door with the door closure in the middle even though my door closure was located at the top. When the screen door arrived and I asked Ms. Harris why she ordered the Crossbuck with the door closure in the middle she said that is how the doors are designed. I found out later that her statement was completely untrue and I had the option of ordering the door closure at the top or bottom but that option was never offered to me. In addition, before I selected Ms. Harris' company, I asked if she had Provia certified installers on staff and she said that she did. Again, I later found out that this statement was completely false. After the doors were installed, I immediately notified Ms. Harris regarding the air leaks on both storm doors and in the kitchen the space between the bottom of the threshold and the floor molding. Her installer came out and insisted the storm doors were installed properly. He did fix the gap next to the new threshold. Because I insisted that the storm doors should not have the air leaks and gaps, the door installer came out a second time and adjusted the bottom sweeps. That took care of the front storm door somewhat but the side storm door still had unacceptable daylight shinning through at the bottom and side of the storm door. Subsequently the dust block on the side entry door came completely off because the door was not plum and the dust block on the front entry door slid sideways because the door was not completely plum. I notified Ms. Harris about these issues as well as my dissatisfaction with both storm storms. She missed four appointments, two due to weather and two because she says her installer does not like to work on Saturdays even though she scheduled Saturday appointments. The third time that the installer came out; he caulked some areas inside the storm doors which did not fix the problem. On the side door, he adjusted the sweep so snug in order to eliminate the daylight that the storm door is very difficult to open now. Both Ms. Harris and her installer still insisted that both storm doors were properly installed and there was nothing further that they could do. Totally dissatisfied with the installation job, I contacted the Provia door Account Manager to obtain a second opinion of the installation. He took photos and found that both entry doors were not properly installed and sealed. The threshold on both doors bounce up and down and the doors are not plum. Inside molding was used on the exterior of the house unnecessarily. When I asked why he needed the inside molding on the exterior of the house, the installer's comment was because he thought it looked nice. Finally the metal part on the threshold on the side door frowns. To correct these issues, both doors need to be pulled out and installed correctly which Theresa Harris is unwilling to do because she says the doors are properly installed. I am now waiting on the Provia Account Manager to contact Theresa Harris to discuss the situation and get back with me.
Response from THERESA HARRIS & ASSOC INC
"As you know I originally quoted you $2,760.00 for the tear out and repair and painting at your home. When Rick started the job, he immediately realized that there was an additional layer of wallpaper that could not be seen until the tear out began. He quoted me an increased labor updated cost for the job and I reported this to you and you agreed to the new price and told me that you understood there could be unforeseen circumstances and that your insurance company (Nationwide) covered such unforeseen costs such as this and you gave me the go ahead to do the work at the newly quoted price. Also, after the removal of the textured ceiling, there were many imperfections in the original finishing of the sheetrock and the taping. That had to be corrected before it could be painted. You were also made aware of this and agreed on that upcharge. Consequently, I charges you $4,021.70 for that work. I have also quoted you $5,174.29 for the cost of and installation of the Provia doors you picked out. The total price of these two quotes is $9,195.99. To date you have paid me $7,934.29 which leaves $1,261.70 owing to me. You have told me that you will not pay this sum. I am aware that Nationwide has reimbursed you $8,924.67 for the work performed. The reason they did not reimburse the full amount of my charges is that you chose higher quality doors than you had previously for which they were not obligated to reimburse you. As you saw from Justin Stiltoner’s email to you of yesterday, on which I was copied, being a certified Provia installer is not required to install Provia doors properly. I have been a Provia dealer and/or purchased their doors for some 20 years and I have been using Rick, who installed your Provia doors, all this time and we have never had a complaint from a customer prior to this job for you. I never represented to you that Rick is a certified Provia installer but he had been installing doors successfully for about 27 years. Rick was unable to adjust the doors to your satisfaction after 2 additional efforts after they were installed. You are now stating that you will only allow Provia certified installers to make the adjustment. I cannot offer that and I do not believe you will be satisfied under any circumstances if I am the person who makes the adjustments. Since you have already contacted The Aluminum Company and they have Provia certified installers, you may use them to make the adjustments to the doors, which includes a margin adjustment of the front door and removal of the side doors and reinstallation. I will give you a credit for what you pay for this work and this work only against the $1,261.70 you owe me. Please provide the invoice of the work to me, and I will apply a credit for the work performed that I have described above. Theresa Harris-President"

It feels like it's almost like a new house. I interviewed a lot of people before I went on Angie's list. I was not pleased with any of them. They just were very salesmen like and you couldn't tell one product from the next. Theresa had made me feel at ease immediately. I was purchasing her product and she had done work for the people in my neighborhood. Before she came to visit, I checked them out. I called them and I went to their houses. They agreed to my visiting them. Knowing that I'd seen her work in the neighborhood, she was very nice and easy to talk to. Her price was very reasonable. I felt like I got a good price. It was actually $7000 for the windows I think. Then the gutters were also included. I would not hesitate to use her again. I will use her services again in the future.

Theresa was prompt and gave a quick estimate and finished the job in a day within 2 weeks of contacting her. I was not at home when the work was done but it is perfect and no damage to my bushes.

I had only needed the fascia board replaced, but Theresa's associates did the extra work as well...replacing the gutters and downspout. When Theresa realized their mistake she called to apologize and said that the extra work was for free - including parts! It is rare that you meet such an honest and wonderful person in the general contracting industry, but Theresa is that person. I would recommend her FIRST to anyone needing help with a home or business project requiring contractors.

All went well for us, if not for Theresa. She gave a professional presentation of her product line. We decided to proceed. Theresa came and measured. The windows arrived. It turned out that they had all been measured incorrectly (a problem with technique). Theresa took back all windows -- which were custom made and so couldn't be returned -- and returned with the correct windows only a few days later. Installation went smoothly and quickly and we are happy with our new windows.

theresa responded quickly to my call, and came to my home and gave me a professional presentation on the products that she offered. She gave me a detailed estimate. She did not even require a deposit when I made the decision to purchase. Her workmen were terrific; they finished the installation in two days. Old windows removed, everything tidy. Her windows were of a very high quality so a bit on the pricey side but not at all outrageous given the quality. I was particularly pleased with the external appearance, which matched that of the old wooden window I was replacing.

NOT ONLY DID THEY DO THE WINDOWS, BUT THEY ALSO DID THE GUTTERS AND OUR SIDING. I THOUGHT THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. AFTER THEY WERE DONE THEY CLEANED UP THEIR MESS VERY WELL.
