They have photos of all of their standard couches, chairs and sectionals, and also photos of custom furniture that they have built for their customers. I put together exactly the pieces I wanted. I then started getting samples of fade-resistant upholstery fabrics from other web sites. Carolina Chair can supply the fabric, but they will also allow the customer to send in their own fabric. Once I picked out the fabric I wanted, I contacted Carolina Chair for a quote for a couch and chair and a half that would be built to my specifications. The quote came back, and they told me how much fabric to order. Once the fabric arrived, it was a matter of waiting for the furniture to be built. Delivery was about eight or nine weeks later. It went very smoothly. I was pretty nervous to see the finished product. The couch and chair are beautiful and just what I wanted. The craftsmanship was very impressive. I had picked a fabric with a pattern, and the pattern was matched perfectly on both pieces. No crooked stitching, no loose fabric. I expect that these will last many years. The people at Carolina Chair were very friendly and easy to deal with. I would definitely recommend this company. I was not disappointed.
Description of Work: I needed new living room furniture and was not happy with what I was seeing in the local furniture stores. Everything I saw was very cheaply made. I was looking for solid, well built furniture that would last. I wanted eight way hand tied springs (not sinuous springs that would sag in a couple of years). The high end furniture stores had mostly leather. I can't have leather furniture because my cats would wreck it. I also needed a heavy duty fabric that would not fade like my old couch and chair did, as my living room is very sunny. I wanted sturdy cushions on the seats and backs that would support my back. I was also looking for Made In America furniture, as I wanted my furniture dollars to support workers in this country. I knew what I was looking for, and I was not finding it in the stores. I started looking on line, even though the thought of ordering upholstered furniture without sitting on it first was a bit scary. I came across the web site for Carolinachair.com. They are a furniture factory in North Carolina that makes furniture to order and sells directly to the consumer.
