Fantastic. Great from start to finish. They stated what needed to be done, with options, Did an excellent job from start to finish. Since work was done without rain to show issue in motion, they came back to do some followup work to improve the job even more after witnessing a couple things after a heavy storm. I would use them if ever needed and highly recommend them with no hesitation.

We had an old retaining wall that was collapsing and drainage issues. VanWyck built a beautiful wall, took care of drainage issues, really made sure we got the look we wanted! I could not be happier with the end result!

They did a good job and quoted me a fair price. They came out when they promised. In the spring I called them about a couple of items that did not survive the winter. He promised to come out and take care of it but delayed coming out. I ended up writing him a notarized letter certified by US mail and he came out right away and took care of it.

When David, the owner, came out to give an estimate we knew after speaking with him that he is highly qualified and an expert in the area of drainage issues and construction. David and his crew provide exceptional quality work and attention to every detail. They built a beautiful rock wall with very artistic touches. This is a very solid wall. They carefully removed our plants and old azaleas and when the construction was completed they replanted them- so much nicer than they had been planted before. They also diligently went down my 500' gravel driveway after their work was done in the yard and corrected every pot hole and valley in it. It never looked so good and it is much more stable than it ever was before. This was not even in our contract, it was just their way of making things look great when they were finished. No more spinning tires! Thank you David and your hard working crew! I uploaded a "before" photo as well so you see the changes.

I hired VanWyck LanDesign to install a 15 step heavy stone staircase from my driveway to the lower area of my property. His crew arrived when they said they would, and were very professional and courteous. They went to work immediately and did a superb job installing the heavy stones. David came later to inspect the project, he is a consummate professional and extremely knowledgeable. The job was done on time at the originally estimated price, which was very reasonable. I highly recommend VanWyck LanDesign for any of your outdoor projects, large or small. I will definitely use them again in the future.

The project went according to plan and per the design/layout that was presented during the various stages of the project. The end result exceeded my expectation. The entire crew of the VanWyck LanDesign was very professional, experienced, and competent in everything they did. David VanWyck, the business owner, checked in with me everyday and diligently made sure that I was happy with each progression of the project. He also saw to it that every question I had was addressed to my satisfaction. The landscaping work that they did is superior quality - from the retaining wall, waterfall, pavers, patio seating, fire pit, plantings, flagstone walk, lighting, etc.. Very pleased. I had drainage issues with water pooling at the foundation of my new (1973) home which sits on .68 acre. David recommended a good gutter company (Leaves Out/Etowah) for cleaning and installation of guards prior to beginning drainage work. He explained mice eat through black corrugated drain pipe (which was not buried as it should have been) and recommended narrower white plastic piping properly diverted to street. His crew added soil/mulch and graded it away from the foundation to improve water flow to the street. David showed me where house footings were showing in one area and recommended building up the soil and grading properly. After David's drainage work was completed, I had my crawl space encapsulated. Conservation Pros wanted the drainage work completed prior to beginning work in the crawlspace. I explained what VanWyck did; he was impressed by the level of detail; stating they know what they're doing. Van Wyck also trimmed and limbed up trees, removed dead shrubbery, etc. Everything looks so much nicer now. They seeded and placed straw in areas where new pipe was laid and the grass is coming in nicely. In the fall, David will re-locate several shrubs and small trees for better performance and growth. He'll fill in bare areas with new and appropriate plant material, then add fluffy (composted) soil and mulch over. I plan to use David's services for hardscaping/paver work in the next year or so as I'm impressed by the hardscape photos on his website. He's very knowledgeable and well educated in his craft with a good eye for design. David does things the right way and his horticultural knowledge is solid. Right plant, right place. I had a difficult time finding someone I felt I could trust to give me a good value and do top notch work (I'm new to the area). Very fortunate to have found VanWyck LanDesign. Job well done!

If there was a rating higher than an “A”, these folks would deserve it. David was planning a family vacation when our job came up on the schedule, and he actually called and asked us if it would be okay if his crew performed the work while he was away or if we wanted to push the job out a bit. We had read the great reviews here on Angie’s List, so we felt comfortable with keeping the original schedule. David brought the crew leader over and introduced us, and they spent a good amount of time in the yard reviewing what was to be done. The crew was clean cut, wore “company” t-shirts, and were extremely hard working, detail oriented, polite, and professional. They left the site spotless every day. We couldn’t be happier with the results. We are already planning another project!

Incredibly well. Dave has used the same workers for a number of years( says something about him as a boss) who are knowledgeable and extremely hard working. He was on site everyday to discuss any concerns or questions we had. He called to let us know the weather would prevent them from coming one day. At the end of each day, all tools and equipment were neatly stacked and organized by his men. We used him for several other jobs in the past and never thought to get another estimate from anyone else. We knew his work and his standards and were not taking chances with an unknown. He is very professional, extremely knowledgeable and creative.

Excellent results! He listened to what we had in mind for the overall look and gave us great options on the plant selections and rock features. He buried the gutter drain lines, did the final grading, moved around native plants and trees, built several boulder retaining walls, planted trees and shrubs all around the house... full service. He also selected several feature plants and boulders for the yard that are striking and unique - just what we wanted. He came in on time and on budget against his quote. He is easy to work with and is a great listener/communicator and has a great knowledge of plants.

We are very pleased indeed with the final patio. Particularly impressed that, during the design phase, David did not push us toward the more expensive solution we had envisaged (that involved a wall) but instead encouraged us to consider a regarding approach that saved us significant $$. The job was later to start than we had hoped but then went efficiently - the team worked hard and adapted the design "on-the-fly" to meet our goals.

Once again, I could not be happier with David and his excellent crew. They are polite and prompt, and their service was superb. I write now to say that David honored without hesitation his generous one-year warranty on plants, and he came back address a minor leak in the waterfall. Since I was so happy with David's initial service, I had him install a couple of thousand dollars of more plants, which is why I adjusted my initial cost indicated on my 06/03/2015 review to a total of $15,000.
