We discussed all aspects of the project, i left with a clear understanding of the process, budget and next steps. We will definitely use Black Hawk construction.

He is a fine man. It is a good choice to use this company. He is very professional and they are nice and pleasant people to work with. He is very good.

From beginning to completion, the process went smoothly. Ken's initial questioning about life style and how we would use each space combined with his knowledge and creativity led to a design with just the right balance of openness and privacy. His analysis of the site considered potential views, sun light, slope, and access to the building site. Ken's talent as an artist is consistently reflected in the design elements - the fireplace, the ceilings, and the exterior decor. We could not be happier with the design!

As with every job, especially during repairing a leaking flat roof of an old home from 1920, there are unknown factors and few surprises. This proved to be the case when the design of the intricate metalwork needed to be altered to accommodate a failing front wall due to rotten wood structure from past leaks. Solution was quickly implemented where the communication was flawless. Since the project has been completed, we are very happy to collect all the rave comments from friends and guests about how the iron enclosure looks as if it has always been there and belongs to the same era as the historic home. The covered porch is now shared by two guest rooms( Scarlet and Emerald ) with a partition in between. We have placed comfortable seating arrangements for each side of the porch. This added a new dimension to our inn; guests can enjoy outdoors on their porch even during downpours or during the heat of the day.

Overall, the renovations have gone extremely well. Ken Gaylord Architects' construction company, Black Hawk, handled all aspects of the job under Ken's oversight. From design to completion, the work has been seamless. In spite of unforseen circumstances (greater deterioration of existing structure than anticipated and record-breaking snow and ice storms), Ken and the Black Hawk crew never lost sight of the projected completion date or the projected budget. Channels of communication have been ideal. I have been kept abreast of all stages of construction. If we had to go over budget in an area, Ken and company sought other areas in which we could save. They were ever conscientious and made my well-being a priority. Thanks to their professionalism, extraordinary work ethic, personal sense of responsibility for my home, and thoughtfulness, my family and I have been well served indeed. I can't imagine going through such a renovation without them, and I will absolutely use them in any future projects we may have.
