This company is great! Respectful, honest, and knowledgeable. We had A LOT of work to be done and Dave and company did the job and cleaned up so well, we couldn’t tell they had been there other than the obvious tree work they did. Dave won’t sell you something you don’t need! He cares about the safety of your home, property and the trees!

So I want to give a fair review as to begin with Dave gave me a very reasonable price and his crew showed up promptly and overall did a good job cutting down 3 large pine trees and 3 large dead/dying oak trees of which he took the majority of the main trunk himself to sell and I got a discount for giving it to him. He also cut down several other small diameter trees, cut up large trees for firewood rounds to be split by me and even did a job for the neighbor too while he was there. When they came they did a good job minus taking out part of my neighbors fence dropping a large tree. They did a decent job fixing it or at least the neighbor ok’ed the work Dave at our initial meeting had said he would clean up everything. For the most part they were progressional. UNTIL, I had requested that he haul off the debris after he was complete for a separate agreed upon fee as there was WAY more than I expected. He asked if I was ok with waiting a couple months for it to settle and dry as it would be easier for him and cheaper for me if he could do it in the Spring. Thus far he had done a good job, so I saw no viable reason to doubt him (although was a bit hesitant) plus he would get paid for the job too. He asked me to contact him after about 3 months, so in March 2018 I did just that. He answered promptly, stated he would come by after his job that day, I was thrilled it would happen so quickly! Then he did not show up at all without a phone call cancelling. I tried several times after to contact him without response then finally after I sent him an assertive email questioning whether he would value positive word of mouth he called and said he would begin picking up the debris on the next few consecutive Saturdays. Well, he didn’t show up that Sat or the following Sat so I texted him.... no response.... I waited a week and texted him again to ask if I could expect him the coming up Sat. No response... so today (May 2018) I texted him asking if we could please set a date and asked him to tell me if he was going to actually do the job (he knew my neighbors were asking about the debris removal as I am sure they were tired of seeing it too). I also as an incentive stated that I may have a couple other trees he could potentially cut in the near future but told him he would have to follow through on this debris removal first. This is what he told me quoted from his text to me after 2 months of saying he would complete the job: I quote: “Sounds like you need someone else then Good luck and god bless.” Really! Wow! That is not professional at all and lacks integrity to agree to a job and not follow through (PS if he was tired of me asking him, he should have followed through after 2 months). . All I needed was a date set, a solid price and for him to follow through..... He may have the best prices, but I guess you get what you pay for in the realm of follow through. I don’t understand why someone would risk a bad review from a customer when they could have had a ravingly good one just by finishing an already agreed upon job. Buyer beware I guess or at least don’t pay him until he does everything you want and do not trust he will come back to finish or clean up.

They arrived when they said they would. Within 5 hours the work was finished. We were pleased with the work and the clean up.

Dave gave me an estimate for tree service that was well below several others in Asheville. He completed the work satisfactorily within two days of providing the estimate. He was courteous, professional, and prompt. I would definitely use French Broad Tree Service because they do good work for a great price.

We needed to have several trees removed and contacted Dave based upon reviews on Angie's List. We also mentioned we wanted to have a large swimming pool removed and turned into lawn. Dave called his friend Jason Beamer from Good Guys Construction in Waynesville to come and bid on the job. Dave indicated that if we hired Jason for the job he would help with the demolition and would do the trees as part of the contract. We were therefore a little surprised when he handed us a bill for $2,200 for removal of 22 trees. I don’t know how many his team actually removed. They trimmed the lower branches of two good trees that we wanted to keep. Later that day the crew cut the two good trees down when we were not looking. We paid Dave’s friends over $14,000 and they completed less than half the project and left it in a very bad state.

While I would not hire Dave again, I would not hesitate to recommend Dave to friends with a couple of exceptions. (1) Get a written estimate up front; (2) Clearly mark the trees you want removed; (3) DO NOT hire anyone Dave recommends or if you do pay them after the job is finished.

They were awesome. They came in at the lowest price and he did more than what I've asked him to do. I can't speak highly enough of them. They were very professional and very supportive of my needs, even though I wasn't really clear at the time. They were really willing to do more.

They charged us about $2000. It went very well. They were very attentive. They cleaned up well and we didn't have any complaints at all. We got three or four estimates and they were down at the bottom. They came on time. We would surely use them again.

Dave was supposed to be there at 8:00 am. At 7:59 I looked at my phone and wondered how late he would be. Seconds later I heard his trucks coming down my road at exactly 8 am - on the dot. That is rare this day and time. They dropped the tree exactly where I wanted them to, cut it up and removed all the brush and had I not added extra work to the list, they would have been gone in two hours. Excellent job. Excellent experience! Would highly recommend them again.
