Family tree care did such an amazing job working with us on some finicky trees that we needed removed. Not only was their pricing very fair, Kris and his team were so kind, respectful, and professional. We will always call them going forward!

As a first time home owner I thought it would be really cool to put up this massive six foot privacy fence. Little did I know this would make it incredibly difficult to take out very big, very dead trees. These guys are true master Craftsmen. Cutting these trees down section by section without damaging anything was like watching them thread a needle, but with a chainsaw! They were prompt, communicated well, and moderately priced. I would hire them again and again.

This was our first encounter with Family Tree Care but it will not be our last. Chris Wetmore was our point of contact with this company. In a time where promises are often made and not kept, our work with Chris and this company was a joyful exception and a pleasure. At our home, we had two very large trees (42" diameter and 100- 125 ft. tall). One was at the front of our home the other on the N.E. corner in direct contact with our bedroom and roof corner. Frankly, we'd delayed the removal of these trees for 2 reasons: cost and concern about damage to our home. The trees were overwhelming large and errors in removal would have created significant damage. We chose Family Tree Care to do this work and on the date scheduled the crane and the work crew appeared just as promised. Our home is a Grove Park area 1951 rancher and our driveway is not, shall we say, pristine. Our trees were so large they required a crane. Chris and his crew were mindful of not doing any damage with the crane set up even in the narrowness of our driveway. What followed can only be described as an intricate orchestration of careful deconstruction of our trees piece by piece until every part of them was safely placed on the lawn for later removal. This process was deliberate, careful and every part professional. To recognized the care this company demonstrated fully ~ they did all this work amid a fully planted, well-loved and planted garden and a newly constructed garden wall handling both huge equipment and the presence of more than a few ground people doing not one bit of damage. During the dismantling of the back tree, they accomplished this around another wall, our entire bedroom and the roof. Further, per the description of these trees, there was a huge amount of massive tree pieces that needed to be removed from the garden level and also from the back property. For those having lived in Asheville for a while, where projects are sometimes hired and the completion of the job may dally for a time, I can only say this will not happen with Family Tree Care. They showed up on time for every single appointment they made from the evaluation and pricing of the job to its completion. They were also available by phone should there be any questions about anything. Not a voice mail left and a never returned call which is often the experience when trying to secure a company representative. When our tree job was completed, we met Chris's Dad, Don. He is the "finish man" otherwise known as the stump grinder. He too arrived exactly as planned. Our back property is on another level than the front tree area. Don exercised much care, as he did on our own property, traversing our neighbor's plot of land necessary to gain proper access to the stump. The roots were expansive. Due to all the debris created in the initial grinding process, some of the lower roots were missed. After my husband and I began distribution of all the wood chips we encountered more roots We phoned Chris to tell him. He immediately said that his Dad would return to get those last few roots which, when the rain finally stopped enough to continue, he did just that. I want to be clear here, they were already paid for the job. They returned when we uncovered the remaining stumps because they value excellence not because they needed to secure the balance of funds due. Our experience with Family Tree Care was a joy and a renewal of sorts. It has become unusual, if not impossible to find that kind of old-fashioned business experience anymore. Family Tree Care provides a unique and regretfully rare experience of a company who stands by their word, honors their agreements and flawlessly delivers exactly what they contracted on time, no hassles and with pride. Hire them, you won't be sorry. We recommend them without reservation.

Family Tree Care was booked so, after the initial estimate, we had to wait a few weeks for service, but Kris and his crew were very professional and did a great job. We chose to have them stack the tree pieces rather than pay for them to haul them away. Would hire again!

Absolutely the best tree service I have ever used. Had a little trouble getting in touch initially because of so much tree damage to others from a storm But once here, it couldn't have been better. Excellent price

He delivered as promised, on time.  The wood looks like good, cured wood.  So I am pleased.
The only down side is he said he is no longer delivering split firewood.  He will see it unsplit, but not split.
To bad, because so far, from what I see, I am very pleased with the wood.

Kris was easy to communicate with and delivery was on time, the wood is as he said...it was seasoned for about six months and split recently before delivery and so far is burning fine. Definitely be clear about delivery; we told him that we'd move the wood to where we wanted it stacked as we had not determined exactly where that would be yet.  They brought the wood up our driveway to where we wanted it in their pickup truck but dumped it at the top; we thought that they'd unload and stack it.  It was fine but not what we expected.  I'd call again.

The seasoned firewood was cut between 12?16 inches as requested. It was well seasoned, but probably newly split?it's taken a couple of weeks to loose the sour oaky scent. Kris told me the load was the last of his seasoned stock so I'll be sure to order earlier next year.
Kris is professional, smart, and efficent. He promised delivery in 5 days (that's pretty quick for firewood) then called 3 days later to say he could deliver soonerif I liked. Since we had just run out of firewood, that was a nice turn.
Delivery was arranged and Kris arrived on time.
One piece of advice is to arrange for stacking when you order. Reading the other reviews I assumed stacking was part of the basic service so I didn't think to inquire and Kris didn't mention it. When he arrived I was surprised to learn he only intended on dumping the truckload. My bug-eyed panic must have registered (the dump had to be in my neighbor's drive so it'd be near our front porch) because Kris offered to give me 30 minutes of time to help me stack. We got the job done quickly?he wasn't watching the clock. He's a good and gracious man to help me out.
After we finished Kris took a look at our huge and ancient oak trees. I asked if he saw any critical issues and he said there were none. He pointed out a couple of limbs almost touching our roof that should eventually go, but there was no hurry. I appreciate his honesty. I'd trust him to work on our trees.

Very well. The firewood was top quality, seasoned, and Kris plus two men stacked it for us exactly where it needed to be stacked, and all this after regular 9 to 5 working hours. Kris takes pride in excellent customer service and his deeds match his words.

We purchased firewood from this company. They were well priced and quick to deliver. They were clean cut and did not leave until I was completely satisfied with what they had delivered. They offer a range of other tree services and I will use them if I have the need. It is not often to be pleasantly surprised by a mundane purchase.
