SOUTHERN CAR CONNECTION

We use Southern Car Connection. I was there last week. They charged us about $250. Their service was perfect. They are honest mechanics. I would use them again.

It went great he did just what I asked. He kept me informed as to what was going on step by step. He didn't do any extra suff and then try it charge me. It was a great experience.

The price was very comparable. The best is always the pricing and the timeliness. The owner is always interested in when we need the car back and lets us know if he has a lot of work ahead of ours. We negotiate what day would be best for us and for him to bring the vehicle in. Generally, when he says he'll have it back to you he'll have it back to you. I'm also permitted to leave it overnight and pick it up when we can. There is a charge if you leave it there too long. He's been our mechanic for the last 5 or 6 years. They're very down to earth type people. As long as Pete is there, I will continue using them.

I began the process knowing the problem: I needed a new timing belt. After submitting my need to three different locations, Southern Car Connection beat their price by $300. I dropped the car off and later that day it was finished. Cost was $580.

I knew of two other issues with the car--leaking coolant and corroded/loose points. After fixing the timing belt, the car ran fine but it still leaked coolant. I took it for Pete to fix and he found the leak in the radiator--it was cracked and he replaced it for $250.

Later that week, the car had some trouble starting and sounded like a motorcycle, the loud ones. He looked in and the exhaust or muffler had cracked. The welded it, replaced the spark plugs, and found the issue with the car stuttering at the start was due to back wires in the ignition. Total for the repair was $175.

I'm well pleased with their efforts. My 14 year old car is running like new now. They were patient and kind. The only warning I'd give is that Pete is wound up: DO NOT GIVE HIM COFFEE.

When I needed repair, they let me drop my car off then they drove me to work. They are a great group of guys.

My stepmom hasn't called me in a panic since the fuel injector got replaced. Therefore, all is good. She'd replace the van if she had the funds to do so, but it's paid for, and therefore, it is still cheaper to pay the lesser insurance and the repairs than to buy a replacement vehicle. Now if only I could convince her it would be even cheaper to keep the van on a preventative maintenance schedule than to wait for it to break. This was the second time we've had to tow her vehicle to Southern Car Connection because of the vehicle owner's lack of maintenance...and the third or fourth time it's been at Southern Car for preventable repairs...each time it's something different. And each time I have to expain that she hadn't been ripped off like all her past experiences with past mechanics. Each repair that Southern Car Connection performed fixed the problem, and each new service was for completely unrelated mechanical failings due to age of the vehicle, driving habits of my stepmom, and lack of preventative maintenance by my stepmom. And despite all odds, Southern Car Connection got my stepmom's van back on the road every time and within her budget!
