JOHNSON MARINE SVC INC

I had boat engine problems. I called Johnson Marine Services, the closest Evinrude authorized dealer, and was told to bring it in the next day (Friday). They would be able to get to it the middle of the following week. It wasn't until the following Friday that they started. I was told my engine was too new, their diagnostic software was out of date, and they were having difficulty installing an update. This problem persisted for a few days. Finally I was told my boat was being diagnosed. I was told the same thing the following day. Then I was told they couldn't understand the new codes (from the engine's on-board computer). After a few more days I was told they actually never were able to install the software update and that I should come pick up my boat and take it somewhere else. So after two weeks of prime boating season, absolutely nothing had been done. They were unable to do the job you would expect of an authorized dealer, they misled me repeatedly, they never called me with an update - I had to call them. If I hadn't called, who knows how long they'd have kept my boat and done nothing with it. I feel they deserve a worse grade than I'm giving them but I understand they were having some serious personnel issues at the time.
