Nothing went as expected. I expected them to replace the top and bottom glass in the affected windows, and to finish out the trim and paint to match my walls and other windows. That's not how the bid read and my fault for not reading the fine print. It seems that when you replace a window you have to spec out each pane, part and piece. Ignorance on my part and lack of explanation on theirs. The next unexpected thing was the method of pane replacement. On one of my windows they ripped out the molding that held the pane in and replaced it with caulking. All the original molding is now splinters. When asked why, they stated there is no other way to do it. I also had broken glass inside and out that my 2 year old had no problem finding after the installers left. On top of that they left their vacuum in my house and they have not come back for it. I called the company to explain my dissatisfaction. I figured bad instructions or a bad day for the installers. They were very defensive and stated that was all they could do. I asked them to come out and evaluate 2 things; 1. I wanted all my windows to match and asked them to come bid on the remaining panes so they would all be clear and new, and 2. make the repaired window frames match those in the rest of the house. I offered to pay them to complete both task, and admitted my ignorance on the original bid. They have not called or come by at all. I have a shop vac that I did get out of the deal and works nice on my tool bench. If you buy new windows be sure to spec out each piece of glass, frame, molding around the glass, molding around the window, painting, window feature removal/replacement, sheet rock/mud work, clean up/removal. It seems window people do not do a complete job. You have to have other contractors presents to finish things out when a window is installed. All I wanted was someone talk to me and explain that what was bid on would really make things look worse and for a few extra bucks and planning it could look like new. Money was not the issue for me. Lack of communication, customer service and caring about their work.
