I was calling around for some glass to put on top of a desk that I just built.  I was thinking I wanted 3/8" with a bevel.  Well for the size I needed (8' x 3') the cost was $400-$500, which was more than I was expecting.
When I called Gate City Glass, I got a price on the low end of that range.  Barbara, the individual at Gate City that I had the pleasure of working with, could tell from my voice that was not what I wanted to pay.  She offered the suggestion of 1/4" plate glass at 25% the cost of what I was asking for.  None of the other places I called suggested this.  She quoted it with the bevel, and then asked some more questions about the desk, which she then determined based on how my desk was made, the bevel would pretty much disappear and wouldn't be seen.  So she saved me a few more $$.
I stopped by their place to firm up the quote, and gave her my dimensions of the desk, and we were on our way.
The next day I received a call from Barbara, as the dimensions I gave her were slightly out of square.  She provided me with a drawing to complete which would determine how out of square I was.  The following business day, I told her I didn't have the ability to provide the measurements to her, which is partly the reason I was slightly out of square in the first place.  I asked if I could bring the desktop by, and they could use it to measure / cut the glass.  She was more than happy to do this.
A few days later the glass was cut and ready to go.  The glass fit my desk perfectly, and was awesome!  I will definitely go back to Gate City Glass, and will work with Barbara again, should I need their help.

We've had a very expensive Murano glass stand up floor light fixture for years.  Last week the this Murano glass "bowl" cracked and then broke.  We were heart broken.  We stated looking for a replacement Murano glass to no avail.  Finally, we found chandelier which had a bowl type they might work but it would have to have three holes of different sizes drilled into it sides.  I took it to Gate City Glass and told them what the other four glass companies had said.  Barbara and Kevin at Gate City took a look at it and Kevin said, "I really I can do it."  I trusted them and glad I did.  The next day they called and told me, the hole in the sides were drilled "by hand" and it was unbroken!
Thank you Gate City Glass for a job well done!
I would recommend anyone just save time, and money and get your glass business done by Gate City Glass
