"Thank you for the kind words and high marks. We appreciate the opportunity to provide quality service. -Chris"
"Wow, we are very surprised by this review. We have reached out to the client and left messages on both cell numbers with no response. We worked with this client a year ago and thought all went well. I really would like to see what went wrong as I do not recall any issues on this project aside from an outlet not working that I went out and corrected the day after it was reported to us. We take pride in our customer service and the quality of our work. Thank you to all of our great clients that keep us busy each day! -Chris"
"Thank you for allowing us to provide electric and plumbing services to you at your home. We were surprised to receive a poor rating, so we reached out over the phone. It was a pleasure speaking with you after reading your review and rating. I understand your reasoning more after we discussed it and we would like to share it with the community. When we asked : How did the service go? Response - You guys did fine. When we asked : How about the price? Response - It was more than we discussed on the phone, but we did request to have some additional items done so I guess it makes sense. When we asked : What we could do better, given this low rating? This was the response - God gets an "A" Shakespeare get a "[Member Information Removed]" And if you work hard you get a "C" From this experience, we understand that all people are individuals with unique perspectives! Thank you for allowing us to provide electric and plumbing services to you at your home. -Chris"

One thing that impressed me was that one night half of the power had went out. I called Chris and the first thing he asked me was going on with my kitchen range. I told him when I turned the range on high, it got warm and not hot. He was able to diagnose over the phone that one of the two phases from the electric company had gone out. I contacted the power company and they found where trees had fallen and taken out the power line. I was just impressed about how sharp he was picking that up right away. We weren't in an immediate need of doing all of our electrical, it was just something I had wanted to do for a long time, so I went for it.
The price may be less than the original bid, since the city engineer deemed part of the work to not be necessary.
Anything electrical we need, they would be the first people we call.

"Thank you for writing a review for Custom Electric of NC based on your experience with our company. We called to follow up with the client as we typically do to check on service experience and here is what the client told us: The technician showed up on time. The technician was neat in appearance. The technician did a good job replacing the light fixture and several smoke alarms. Everything worked as designed before he left the home. The technician left the work area in the home clean. The technician did NOT explain to the home owner the loose wires(6) he found and corrected during the panel service performed or the difference between a panel service and general electrical inspection that some companies offer for $50. This work was performed on a flat rate basis and the technician took his time to be sure it was all done correctly. The cost of the panel service, smoke detector installation, overall electrical inspection, and light fixture replacement was discussed with the home owner prior to scheduling the appointment for the service call to prevent any surprises. We will do better in communicating with the home owner when we find and fix problems so that they know they are getting their money's worth out of the service call. Thank you for finding a weakness in our service and bringing it to our attention. -Chris -Chris"
"Many clients call us to assess and correct missing ground issues. We find everything from poor electrical connections at outlets to missing/corroded connectors or missing wires all together. Grounds keep us safe in the event of a short circuit. The ground wiring gives electricity the most effect way to return to the service panel. Current flows from the panel to the outlet or fixture to make it work. The neutral wire (white) is the return path for left over, unused current. The ground wire is an additional path for electrical current to return safely to the earth without anyone getting shocked or electrocuted in the event of a SHORT circuit. In that instant, the short would cause the current to flow through the ground wire, causing a circuit breaker to trip or a fuse to blow. The fuse or circuit breaker can only work properly with a completed path for the current. Don't just let it go, make it right and keep your family safe. Thank you for asking us into your home to make these corrections to keep your family safe. -Chris"
"About once a week we find an incorrectly wired 3 way switch circuit. It can take some time to sort out what the last guy did wrong to cause the malfunction and get it rewired correctly, but we insist on doing it right. Thank you for allowing us to correct your dimmer circuit and remove the broken light bulb. Custom Electric of NC, Inc. strives to respond quickly to your call for assistance and provide quality service. We appreciate your continued support. -Chris"
"Supporting small local business is great for our entire community, so thank you for trusting Custom Electric of NC, Inc. with all of your electrical needs. Your repeat business is really appreciated by our entire team. -Chris"
"This client called to have 2 ceiling fans, ceiling boxes, and switches installed in his home where no lights currently existed in 2 bedrooms. We gave him our discounted flat rate pricing for this job of $295 each since he wanted 2 fans done at the same time over the phone. He Agreed and we scheduled the work. The home owner asked how long the work would take and we told him one electrician all day or I could send 2 electricians and get it done in 1/2 a day. His schedule was tight so we scheduled 2 electricians. They showed up on time discussed the best way to get the work completed (which included discussion of cutting drywall and ways to avoid it). The 2 technicians used $125 in parts, 150 city permit fee, and spent a total of 9 man hours on site. With the discounted price and these costs the average hourly rate paid comes to $35 per hour per electrician. Our normal hourly rate is $90 per electrician. This translates to a great deal for the home owner in this case utilizing flat rate billing. When the guys left the home both fans were running and the client said they looked beautiful. I made a follow up call about 10 days later to check on the service and the client had no complaints. After reading this review I called the home owner to discuss and found that currently there were no repairs needed to be done, as he had tightened the trim ring on one of the fans. We strive to provide high quality service at a fair price. If you find a problem after we leave...call me...we will make it right. -Chris"
Technician came out and we both assumed the problem was too much current running through the circuit, and that installing a new outlet on another circuit would solve the problem, and we started in on that solution.
Then we stopped and thought we should test the GFCI itself - maybe it was old/bad and not allowing enough current to run. When we replaced the GFCI with a standard outlet and loaded up the circuit with everything we could (treadmill, fridge, space heater), it all ran fine...even the circuit breaker didn't trip.
Technician didn't have a GFCI on his truck (surprisingly), but owner Chris came back out to complete the fix.
Technician (David?) was very nice, and owner Chris is very attentive and wants to ensure satisfaction - especially to Angie's List members. I would use Custom Electric again."We failed on this one...we should always have commonly used parts on the van to perform service work and in this instance we ran out of GFCI type outlets on this service van. As with any failure, how you recover is key. We got the client up and running that day, then returned with a new (proper) outlet to complete the repair without charging any return trip fee or even the charging for the GFCI outlet. This due to our failure and inconvenience to the client. We make mistakes and we make it RIGHT, always. Thank you for trusting Custom Electric of NC with your electrical needs. -Chris"
"Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Custom Electric of NC with others who may be looking for a high quality and honest electrical company. We look forward to your continued business. -Chris"
