It was a great experience!  We found Carolina Computer Help on Angie's List.  Our desktop computer had stopped communicating with the monitor and kept shutting down.  We had exhausted our very limited knowledge and ability to find a solution ourselves and called John.  He works out of his home and I dropped off the computer on a Friday.   The following day he called and said he had found the problem, had made the repair, had run some scans with a third party product and cleaned out a couple of "infections".  The factory installed video card was failing, causing our problems.  He removed the video card which we do not need anyway as we do not do 3-D gaming on this computer.  He returned the computer to us the day after we dropped it off, running good as new.
John was very professional and did a great job of explaining the problem to us, charged a reasonable fee and we will certainly call him again with future IT issues!

Transferring data went well, computer is working fine.

I actually never met him, I spoke with him and told him the problems and then left the computer on his back porch.  He fixed it and I picked it up on his back porch.  VERY reasonable and very good work.

I should have called John sooner. He quickly was able to retrieve irreplaceable photos from 2 older computers. He replied to my email from this site within a couple of hours on a Saturday night and then picked up the 2 computers and my external hard drive from my home that Tuesday. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Everything was returned within a few hours. I'm so grateful to have the photos. John even offered to wipe clean the computers so I could donate them. I would definitely recommend and will call him again.

John Rettew has been providing computer technical help for me for several years. Most recently when I was dealing with blue screen scary stuff on my computer. He came, took my computer home, and identified the problem not as a "crash" but a matter of heat. He cleaned up the interior of the computer so that air would flow. He has kept me up to date on needed updates and upgrades. Whenever he has my computer he always goes over it with a fine tooth comb and returns it to me in excellent working order. One time when the hard drive did crash he guided me in the right direction for a new computer and re-installed all of the software. In addition he put a second drive in my computer to which there could be a nightly back up. I highly recommend him to Angie's List customers.
