"After reading this review I decided to wait before I responded. Very sad when someone hires you to do a job and doesn't pay as agreed upon. If the irrigation was leaking why didn't I get a call? I would have repaired no problem. I believe the reason I never had a chance to make a repair if one was needed because the homeowner wasn't going to pay. As you can see from my other reviews my work is top notch. If you can't afford to pay the bill at least talk we can work out a payment plan. I sent numerous emails and voicemails for months and never got one response. I wish I could warn other companies before they do work for [Member Name Removed]. As a small business owner its tough when someone stiffs you for the money agreed upon. Look at my other reviews and make your own assumption."
Out of the 15+ landscaping companies I called, only a handful returned my calls, one came out for a day and decided it was going to be too much work but Michael was the only one to quickly work us into his schedule and tackle the issues head on. The first day out, he accessed the problems and decided he needed to find the valves for the zones not working (which is not an easy task). He came back in the following weeks, found the valves, replace one solenoid and re-ran a wire to the other.
Throughout the entire process Michael was up front an honest about schedules, prices and never promised anything he could not deliver on. If/when we ever have irrigation or landscaping issues in the future, we'll be sure to use Picture Perfect Landscape.
The project started with a firepit and perhaps a sitting wall to enclose the area based on cost. In an era of bloated budgets for relatively simple outdoor projects, I was pleasantly surprised to get a very fair bid from Michael. He worked with me throughout the planning phase to identify the right look and materials for our job. As the project progressed, I identified other small projects in the yard, and Michael responded each time with a reasonable price and high quality. It was refreshing to talk to a professional lanscaper that was willing to increase the scope and take on small additional projects without gouging us. We ended up adding some wooden stairs to add access to a portion of the back yard, a vegetable garden for my wife, pine needles, and he even repaired an existing wooden retaining wall for us.
I cannot recommend Michael enough. He is an extremely nice guy, I trust him implicitly at my home, and answers my call whenever I need him. Michael has continued to be responsive and provide quality results at a reasonable price on other projects.
Thanks to Picture Perfect Landscape!
We did have some problems with a portion of the system that had to be outsourced due to city requirements. Michael immediately owned the problem and resolved it himself. He provided us with additional instructions for securing a credit from the city for the excess water we paid for from the leak.
Since installation of the system, we have contacted Mr. Stewart several times with questions. Whether by phone, email or coming to our home, he is always prompt and thorough in providing us with what is needed.
We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for irrigation and/or landscaping services.
About a month later I noticed that one side of the wall had started to lean pretty significantly so I called Michael (owner) to come and have a look . When he came out he agreed it was leaning and arranged a time to have his crew come out and fix it.
They did come out but less prepared than I'd hoped. They basically used a large machine and a pole to attempt to push the wall up (read: vertically straight) and wedged small pieces of wood in the spaces created by pushing on the wall created. As a result it does look like SLIGHTLY better, it's still not straight... never will be. I'm not really worried about the wall falling but do wonder how long it can last. With basic materials like this the differentiation in this market is in craftsmanship and this is what was clearly lacking this time.
As such I feel I got ripped off (for the price I paid). I gave them an overall C because he at least came to fix it, did it for free, and with a smile on his face. If he hadn't responded I would have of course given him an "F". (And conversely an "A" if he'd built it straight from the start!)
I don't mind spending the money on professionals if their work is at that standard. Unfortunately this time for me it wasn't but I do applaud is enthusiasm regarding fixing the wall when I called several weeks later.
This experience is why I bought a membership in Angie's List. I'm so glad I did! My wife says it was a small price to learn an important life lesson and I have to say I agree with her.
I find Michael one of the most hard working, honest, and conscientious people that I've ever met. As picky as I was, and as much grief that I gave him at times, he always addressed me very respectfully and with a calm demeanor. He has bent over backwards to make sure that I have been totally satisfied with every facet of this job.
A bad storm hit us at the most critical time of the entire job; the evening that he had my yard prepared for sod installation for the next morning. I was a frantic mess and really showed my tail even to the point of scaring some of his workers away. But he calmly assured me that everything would be OK; called more workers in at his cost and got the sod down. They even laid out one half of a pallet of left over sod in my back yard so that I could install it once I had rented a sod cutter. And let me tell you, that stuff was heavy!
Admittedly, I was skeptical as to how smooth my lawn would be and due to the torrential rain, it is a little bumpy. But in his great effort to provide superior customer service, Michael has offered to top dress my lawn next spring to take care of any unevenness. And the rain wasn't even his fault! That, my friends, is going above and beyond in service.
Since the sod installation, I've had a few minor problems. Some sod needed replacing. An up light was malfunctioning. Each and every time that I have called or texted Micheal, he had been very prompt to return my contact and to take care of the problem immediately. I even cut my drip tube with my hedge trimmer and he came right out and spliced my line at no charge, showed me what to get and showed me how to fix it if I ever did it again in the future!
He and his crews were always on time and when they left for the day, the work site was so cleaned up that you would never know that they had been there!
I would definitely have no qualms whatsoever in having Michael do more work for me in the future. He is a stand up guy. He does more than he says he's going to do. His customer service is unparallelled. You can't go wrong with Picture Perfect Landscape and Irrigation.
