They installed it very quickly. They came out, made out a presentation. We said that we would be travelling in couple of days and so they installed it the same day. The guy came out and installed the same day which we felt was very good. The guy was complaining about that they were supposed to be working in the shop but them instead of coming out to install but that’s not the customer’s responsibility. The second guy had to come out later because one of the detectors fell off and he had to replace that. He had to give us some training. The installation was not the best as they had to check whether it really works.

Put in the services, sounded good, but found out that at nearly $40 a month I was paying for the equipment as well as monitoring service.  Not told about the hidden language in the contract that indicated that if you don't cancel within the 1 month prior to the contract's anniversary date, that they can automatically add another year to contract.  It is a deadly cost.  In 3 years you have bought the "free" equipment.  They even are willing to reduce the monthly charge by $10, you go for another 2 years after anniversary date.  You can get good monitoring service for $15 a month.  The salesman and sales office are out of business in our area.  The customer service people are rude and less than willing to be helpful.  Stay away from these folks, is my opinion.

UPDATE  12/3/2011:  My complaint with Vector was satisfactorily resolved, at no charge to me, by the local Vector office in Garner, NC.  Since I've had a good follow up experience with the local Vector office, I would recommend them.  They are not the problem.  The problem is with Vector's customer care service.  The two women I spoke with there were negative and unhelpful and I had no option other than escalate my concerns.

I had no problems with the Vector/AMP home security system until 9/26/2011 at 12:35 am when a false fire/medical emergency alarm went off in my house when I was asleep.  I had trouble communicating with the Vector/AMP representative who contacted me by way of the 2-way panel monitor.  I was not aware that the emergency pendant I wore around my neck was not a 2-way voice system.  Previously I had the Life Alert Medical Emergency pendant that had a 2-way voice system.  The 2-way voice system with Vector/AMP was in the monitoring panel located downstairs.  Since I was upstairs, the Vector representative and I had to scream at each other to communicate.  I asked them to cancel the alarm because there was no fire, as was signalled by the smoke alarm on the second floor.  I asked them to cancel the medical emergency alarm that, I believe, was signalled by the medical pendant I wore to bed.  Anyway, the City of Raleigh Fire Department came to my home and I had to inform them that it was a false alarm set off by my relatively new home security system.  I called AMP to check out the false alarm problem and they came to my house on 10/4/2011.  The AMP technician found no problems with their system.  He suggested that maybe I had triggered the alarm by setting off the neck pendant while I slept, and thought I maybe should keep the pendant on my night table.  Even though the word pendant suggests something worn around the neck, at night I remove it and put it on my night table to avoid a false alarm should I move in my sleep and set it off.  I had another false alarm on the afternoon of Saturday 10/8/2011.  This time I ran downstairs (I had just taken a shower) and spoke with the Vector/AMP representative and told him to cancel all alarms and make sure the local fire department does not come to my house again because it will cost me $50 for a second false alarm.  Called Vector/AMP and they came to my house and checked out the system again and changed a lot of batteries.  The technician at that time suggested that the smoke alarm may be setting off because of the steam from the bathroom shower.  I called Vector/AMP and asked them to move their smoke alarm because it was too close to my bathroom door which when opened after a shower waffed the steam out to the alarm causing a false alarm.  I told Vector (I think it was Diane) that I wanted the smoke alarm relocated.  She told me that to have a tech come out and move the smoke alarm would cost me $90/hour as this situation was not covered by my service agreement.  I'm frustrated with the problems of the super sensative neck pendant and smoke alarm.  These situations need to be resolve by Vector/Amp ASAP.  I so regret signing up with Vector.  What a mess!!!!  I DO NOT recommend VECTOR home security company.

They had their own service people. The installation and everything was free because we agreed to put their sign in our yard. I have been getting phone calls from all the other security companies asking me if they could come by and put a sign in our yard. They told me that they were doing advertising and that they would do it for free. However, I was under a contract with Vector Security Raleigh. They would call when the alarm goes off. Their people are absolutely wonderful. If you have a little vacuum cleaner they would clean their mess up. My husband worked for a big company for thirty four years which was about forty miles from my house and he retired this year. The company that he worked for would purchase a brand new front door when their employees retired. They would write a check for $400. We had the old door up when they installed the security system. I told them that we would be getting a new front door and they said that we could call them when we get it. They would come out and put the little thing where we could set the alarm when we close the door. We could call them and they would put that up without any problem. We got the new door put in and I called them. They called back and told me that they had forgotten to tell me that it would cost $89. I told them that I would pass on that. I also told them that they could forget about it and move the alarm to the front door. I was going to have a storm door that would lock and nobody would be able to get in which had to make an awful lot of noise. It had to be really quiet. I got a courtesy call from them two weeks after that to check as to how we liked their system and if we were happy with them. I explained the situation to her that I was not happy at all as I paid $40 a month which I thought was very high and I could not even alarm my front door. I told them that I was told to call them and that they would come out to put it up. She said that she would call her supervisor and call me back. They called me back in probably less than half an hour. They told me that someone would be there the next morning to install it and I did not owe them a dime.

I called for service at the request of our phone and internet service provider.  There wasn't enough bandwidth for both the high speed internet and the alarm.  Eric from Vector replaced the old line that serviced both with a direct line so this would no longer be an issue.  He even stayed about 2 hours later than his normal working hours just so he could finish the job and provide me with a sense of security that night.  Before he left he cleaned up after himself, checked all of our alarm setting, left me with a few suggestions on settings, preformed an alarm test, and let me speak with alarm central over the 2-way speaker just in case.  Thanks Eric for a job well done!

They kept on sending me bills. I called the customer service number and spoke to Jerome on 05/29/09 at 12pm. He told me that it was written in the computer that I had canceled. I just got another bill and they are saying that I owe more money. I just called again and spoke to Jennifer and she is saying I need to send them another letter. That I was suppose to send the letter to Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania. (That's where I sent it the first time.) She told me that I owe them money. I DO NOT OWE THEM ANYTHING BECAUSE I CANCELED.

They monitor my home for security. The doors and windows have sensors on them. If a sensor is set off, the company is notified; they will call the police and send someone to check on you. I am not happy with them and think they are cheesy about doing their job. If you just needed them to monitor they would be fine, but if you have a problem forget it. It is even a hassle to discuss upgrading they system, I am looking for another alarm company currently.
