The unit has been working flawlessly providing great climate controll no matter what time of year it is.
The work crews were going to be fifteen minutes late due to traffic so they called me from the road to tell me they were still coming.
They arrived with two crews; 1: for the AC/Heat replacement and 2: for the duct replacement. Both crews went to work right away. I stayed with them all day, in and under the house. I never did have to ask them to correct or address work quality issues. I never observed anyone siting or resting, they worked hard. No one left the site for the entire day.
The first two hours were spent removing all the old components and preparing the new components for installation. After which the crews worked together to position the parts and materials where they were needed before moving the heavy units into place.
The duct crew worked without stopping, they ate lunch as they worked. I had directed the addition of three new registers and a new return to balance the air flow in my house due to an addition. They installed them exactly as I specified. The return would not exactly fit where I wanted it so they modified the grate to make it fit neatly and professionally under a built-in desk. The ducts were appropriately sealed with mastic and wrapped in duct tape for security. The crew supported the ducts under the floor well. I anticipate no issues in the future. The mechanical crew asked for assistance from the duct crew to position the two heavy units on top of supports. Both crews worked together to raise, carefully position and permanently mount the units.
The mechanical crew ran and insulated the refrigerant lines neatly and cleanly. They ran the electrical lines and hooked up the units. Where lines penetrated the foundation they insulated them in conduit to prevent wear and provide for easy replacement if ever needed. Those conduits were filled with silicone caulk before the job was completed to prevent bugs or rodents from gaining acess to the underside the house.
A third crew showed up late in the day when needed. This crew activated the units and brought them on-line. They put vacuum pumps on the system to determine that all the connections were correct and tight. Then then released the factory installed Freon into the lines. During testing they noted the pressure was a little high and recovered a little Freon to bring the system within specifications.
All three crews worked to balance the air flow in the house and ensure everything was completed correctly. The crews loaded up all the debris including the duct work that was removed. When they left the areas under, around and in the house were neat and clean.
The work had two inspections; 1: from the city, 2: from the power company (rebate). I was present for both inspections. I asked the inspectors to be brutal and tell me if anything needed to be done differently or adjusted.
The city inspector had never worked with this company before so he was going to be picky. I watched him as he went from area to area. He took back the insulation on the duct work to inspect for proper seals; He traced refrigerant and power lines. He went over each unit support carefully. He checked the duct work for proper support. He checked the returns for correct placement and sealing. He examined the electrical service disconnect and the proper fusing of all units. He inspected the units for stability and leveling. He looked at everything. After a thirty minute inspection he told me that in his opinion that the contractor had done a "great" job and signed off on all of the permits.
The power company inspector examined much of the same items, even down to the caulking of the conduits. He too thought that a good job had been done and signed off on the rebate forms.
I have owned this house for seven years. For the first time it is comfortable in both winter and summer. Best of all the bills are affordable. The American Standard, Sear 20, two speed unit has been a joy to own.
Oh yes, they provided me with a twelve year parts and labor warranty. Heating and cooling problems are no longer a concern to me. I am confident in both the products and labor.
I highly recommend this company for value and good work.
