Took two weeks, thorough job, not very good at answering the phone but they do call back. Excellent warranty.

Everything went great. Daniel and his team were able to diagnose the problem, without suggesting 5 other things that needed to be fixed. I had told them I was strapped for time so would have to bring the car back in the morning. They, surprisingly, were able to get all parts in less than 30 minutes and had me on my way within 5 minutes of the time I had to leave.
Will definitely use these guys again. An honest man and business.
Response from NC Transmission
"This is one of those wonderful cases where everything came together to help the customer out. The initial parts supplier we spoke to didn't have all the parts in stock, and we scrambled around to try and get what we needed to take care of our customer. We got parts in and worked efficiently to get the customer mobile... Who wants to make multiple trips to get something fixed? Thank you(Member name removed)for the opportunity to earn the business. I truly appreciate it!"

My pickup is old, and parts were hard to find, so it took awhile to get it fixed. However, I was updated frequently on the status of the parts search, so I am satisfied that the truck was repaired as expeditiously as possible. And the transmission is fine.

After, 1) Replace fuel pump and 2) repair leaky fuel line. He completed fuel pump replacement satisfactorily , but the fuel line repair "separated" after only 41 miles. It dumped me and 22 gals of fuel ($$77.22) on the highway... so, after returning the car to his shop, he now says he does not "want the work" .. actual quote from Daniel Finti, NC Transmission owner. He offers me $150 refund to "tow it to another shop as he needs his guys working on transmission work"... (note. towing cost will be $65 alone). I decline and ask that he just fix his failed repair and he refuses.
Note: At this point, I have incurred the following expenses which are directly related to NC Trans' failed repair:
- $902 base bill from NC Trans
- $168 when placing the exhaust system on the shop floor after removal (w/o exhaust lift).. they cracked the flex pipe , creating a
leak sufficient to fail NC Inspection process. Daniel, NC Trans owner, recommended seeing Morise at Mineike Muffler, as
he will probably repair it for "little or nothing".
- $77 in dumped fuel
- $304 for secondary fuel pump I purchased (OReilly's Auto Parts )as the mechanic could not identify which was actually bad.
I agreed to buying this to avoid any warranty issues ironically. So, this is NOT a real disputed expense.. just
proving my level of cooperation in the repair process to avoid any issues.
total = $1451or $149, if the secondary pump is excluded.

Today , 9/16/13.. I had the car towed to Apex Sales in Apex NC. A friend of mine's father has a small engine/ lawn mower repair and parts business and he says it should only take a fuel line "splice kit", but in fairness, he must examine the flawed repair attempt he is "picking up after" to really know.
Tues, 9/17, I will file a small claims suit against NC Transmission's refusal to correct their failed repair job and related expenses.
BTW: NC Transmission's motto, displayed in their front window is:
Yes, we can do that!
Response from NC Transmission
"What a shame. (member name removed) neglects to tell the whole truth, and by the omission of several important details, he does manage to vilify the shop. We tried extremely hard to make (member name removed) happy, and his mention of him buying a part "because we couldn't be sure" is twisted. We told Mr. Price about a part of his system that we suggested he replace to avoid future labor charges, trying to HELP (member name removed). NC Transmission wanted to repair the fuel system the right way, and (member name removed) told us his limited budget would not allow for us to do it that way, that he wanted us to perform a simple repair on the fuel lines, since his expenses were so high from the intial fuel pump failure. We repaired a plastic line in a fuel system that (member name removed) ruined when he attempted to repair his vehicle on his own, before towing it to us. When we got the vehicle and tried to explain the extent of the repairs, we tried to get the facotry part ofr the vehicle, but (member name removed) damaged a part of his fuel system that was no longer available through any means. We then repaired the damaged part with the best materials available, DID NOT CHARGE ANYTHING FOR THE PARTS OR LABOR for the repairs and sent (member name removed) on his way. More than a month later, (member name removed) has an issue with the vehicle, gets underneath it and by his own admission again, YANKS ON THE REPAIRED FUEL LINES. Needless to say this then caused the plastic fuel lines repaired to have issues. I attempted to explain to (member name removed) when the vehicle came back to us, that the parts were simply not available anywhere to properly fix the vehicle, and based upon his words to me on the phone, his aggressive manner and his attack language, that there was no way we were going to be able to make him happy. No matter what my team and my business did for (member name removed), he was going to be upset and unhappy, and thus, I offered to refund money based upon the tow cost to get the vehicle to me, and then to another facility which would be better prepared to fabricate fuel system lines for (member name removed) discontinued Saturn product. (member name removed) attack behavior went to the next level and now here we are. I strongly regret the experience that (member name removed) had after trying to repair his vehicle, and we tried to help him out by not insisting on the rpeairs being done in our preferred manner, but (member name removed) is a persuasive person."

I missed out on actually getting to work with the company because I was trying to follow a coupon instead of just going to Angie's List as I should have to begin with. Big mistake and I regret it. With my experience with NC Transmission, I would recommend them to anyone. They were honest, did not talk in circles, and seemed to be very ethical and straight forward.

After a few hours they called back and told me there was a hole in the piston head and that replacing everything would cost somewhere around $4000! I would basically need to replace the engine.
Needless to say I went and got some 2nd and 3rd opinions, and everyone I could find told me that that sounds pretty far-fetched, as the computer is designed to avoid creating an environment where a hole could develop in a piston head. I also asked my normal mechanic who said to try swapping out ignition coils. Well, I'm really glad to say that the ignition coil was indeed the problem, which was only $65 plus a little bit of my own labor to get to it.
So, I'm giving NC Transmission 1 star because this was such a huge error on their part. They are supposed to be experts, but they tried to attribute a critical error as the cause of a pretty minor problem. So either they have someone who is super-incompetent working in their garage, or they were hoping to milk $4000 out of me. Either way, I'll never be visiting NC Transmission again.

They were nice and thorough. They gave me an estimate and their price came in just under the estimate. They also did some other work that needed to be done that added about $500 more. It took them a bit longer than I expected, but then they had some extra work to do. They will be once again replacing the blower motor for the heater and air conditioner because it sounds like a jet engine when it starts. They said that wasn't acceptable. They were very reasonably priced for what they did. They were probably a little bit cheaper than some other places that I could have gone to. After I drove the first thousand miles they wanted it brought back in to make sure that everything was working properly. That validates their warranty of 12 months for parts and labor on their work. They were really good.

I was first informed by a dealership that the rubber boot on the front right CV joint was damaged, they wanted a ridiculous amount of money to replace the joint. I took it to a local transmission shop for an estimate which was half of the dealership price, but they did not instill confidence in me. Their front office made me feel like I was bothering them to get an estimate and as I left their mechanics were playing with a radio controlled toy car as several vehicles sat on lifts with no one working. When I called NC transmissions on Thursday afternoon they were very courteous and gave me a quote over the phone which was $125 less than the local shop and said it would take about 1 1/2 hours. The local shop said 2 1/2 hours. NC transmissions said they could see me the next morning at 9:30 and would order the part right then so it was there for the morning. I told them I would be there at 9:30. I arrived Friday at 9:25 and they took my car right back! They had some trouble with a frozen bolt and apologized because it would take a little longer. I have worked on cars and frozen bolts can ruin your day! Since I had to drive 20 miles and a half hour from where I live, I asked if they could change the transmission fluid and filter too. The quoted me a fair price and said "no problemofcourse we can!". Everything was completed within 2 1/2 hours and that even included a test drive. They were extremely professional, have a comfortable, clean waiting area, and perform their services with confidence. I won't take my cars anywhere else for transmission repair or service. I just wish they did ALL types of auto repair! I would even drive an hour to get to them. It's refreshing to meet nice, competent, honest auto mechanics

The 5 speed manual transmission on our 2005 Honda Civic was making strange grinding noises. After calling around to a number of local Honda and transmission specialists, I was expecting a very large repair bill. I found NC Transmission on Angie's List and called them up. The service manager was very helpful and gave me an estimate over the phone that was much lower than the other places I'd called. Since they had good reviews, and the price was right, I went ahead and had them do the work. Because they had to remove the clutch to get to the transmission and because the clutch was quite worn, they offered to replace it for the cost of the new part. We've had the car back for a week and it's not making any strange noises and the new clutch is working great. They asked that we bring the car back in a month for them to do a quick, free inspection, to make sure everything was repaired correctly.

I had no idea what was wrong with my car but the folks at NC Transmission were able to let me know within a day. They were very patient when they explained what was wrong with the car and answered my questions thoroughly. Unfortunately, they had to wait (twice!) for a dealer part which caused a delay to their original estimate, but those things just happen.

They were very informative throughout the process and worked quickly to get my vehicle back to me. Provided transportation for me when my vehicle was first dropped off, and kept me updated throughout the process. The final cost came in under the estimate. Andy at the front desk is very easy to talk to and Daniel, the owner, was informative and friendly. I first took my vehicle to Fred Anderson Toyota for them to take a look and tell me what was wrong and what could be done. The technician I talked to at Fred Anderson basically mocked me for my stupidity and told me they don't do any rebuilds or repair, they only replace transmissions with remanufactured units for a mere sum of $4,500. I declined and took it to NC Transmissions. They never once made fun of my screw up and Andy seemed apologetic at having to quote me $2,600 for the rebuild. I was happy to know I was saving $2K over a replacement. Apparently there were a couple of shot solenoids and a burnt clutch inside. They require that you bring the vehicle back at 1,000 mile to make sure it is still in good order and that the fluid level is still appropriate. They give a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on their work as well. Good guys, professional, and knowledgable and I will use them for any future service that they can provide (they do more than transmissions).
