Within 30 days the grout was showing mold as if the sealing we paid for had never happened. I started contacting Groutlines in late August 2015 to come look at our showers to help us understand what we were doing wrong. After several calls and emails I finally received an email response two months later (mid October 2015) explaining that nothing is mold proof, just "resistant," etc. etc.
I was surprised at the lack of interest in our issues because Groutlines had the best warranty of all the companies we looked at. Their quote indicated "Goutlines.com offers all of our customers a 1-Year Warranty/Guarantee on all of our work as long as all maintenance instruction are followed which are listed below." We followed those instructions but could not maintain results. That warranty has motivated no action on their part except to email me that I should try a solution 1:3 parts water/bleach.
Their engagement prior to the sale was very good. My perspective after the sale is that their warranty does not mean much and they were not too concerned that our family had not realized the value we paid for.
Angie's List had shown many positive reviews for them which was also a factor in our selecting them. I'm glad our experience does not seem typical...but given the time, energy and money that has gone into our interaction with them I thought I should communicate it for others.
Now that we are through the holidays, we are engaging another grout cleaning/sealing company to see if they can help us.
I asked for two quotes from Angie's list, picked only by reviews. I chose Grout lines because they were more reasonable in terms of price. They were very professional, they came on time for the free quote, put on covers over their shoes without being asked and gave a quote immediately. We thought about it and decided to make an appointment to have the job done. It was done in less than a day and the shower was literally transformed.
Within a month I noticed a small amount of black reappearing in one corner of the shower. I called Grout lines, they apologized (I totally understand a small spot would have been missed), and came back within 4 days to fix it.
It's hard to find a good contractor, one who is professional, does a good job and is reasonable. I will definitely use Grout lines again.
Received estimates for retiling from providers and also regrout Q3 2014. Rob from Groutlines came and gave estimate to regrout master and guest shower floors. Large amount of deposits in master(leeching calcium bleed) was noted. However, Rob confident it could be repaired just need to open up grout and dry out. Agreed to email estimate.
Installation date Rob came with his Father Bob. They completed work in both showers. Within 2 weeks we noticed master shower floor grout failing. Called and Rob came back and did a regrouting and said "sometimes this happens and hoped that it worked if not we will go to Plan C".
It did not work. Called Bob back and he started by saying something about in their contract/estimates they have a disclaimer about calcium bleed. There is nothing in my information regarding this that I see. I asked regardless of his disclaimer, what can I do to get this fixed..he said it would cost me a fee for them to travel to the house to look at follow up repairs. He was out of town(I think he live part of year in NY/NJ) but said he would get back to me and check the agreements we had made.
Bob Never called back. I called and emailed him last March of 2015 and have received no response..

Hi Bob
Wanted to follow up on our phone conversation about coming to look at the groutline failure we are
experiencing in the Master shower floor from the work done last year and rework again when failure first appeared. You had discussed how calcium bleed is an issue but I would like to see if we can resolve this. Below is the quote and details I was given for your reference.
Not sure if you had trouble reaching me last month after you were going to review your notes on the job and talk with Rob who did the work both times..but my contact information is below.
I will give you a call as well.
Thanks
Stan
1) On the first work visit, when the old grout was removed, we were told that the shower would have to dry for a few days, and that there would be a $150 additional charge for a 2nd visit. The possibility of an additional visit fee was not mentioned anywhere in the quote. However, I paid it (for a total of $825).
2) When the company came back several days later to install the epoxy grout, they installed SANDED grout instead. We did not discover this until several days later, when we used the shower for the first time after the grout dried.
3) The owner (Mr. Dinkle) apologized for his worker's mistake, and promised to have the epoxy grout installed today April 11).
4) A different worker did indeed come today and removed the sanded grout. I asked to see the grout that he was about to install, and it was not epoxy grout. Instead, it was "single component" grout. I did not allow him to install it, and am waiting for a return call from Mr. Dinkle. It has now been two weeks since this process started.
"After working with this customer who we were very kind with and worked with throughout this process, he did not live up to his word on changing the review after we spent hundreds on buying a special ordered 100% true epoxy grout for him. The quote was given saying that we would use an epoxy based grout product which this client never even asked for in the beginning so he chose to use our wording and turned it against us to create a difficult situation and process. We always used the same product like all other customers but this Client turned our wording against us. So we pride ourselves in backing up our work and making sure the client is always happy in the end. We went and special ordered an epoxy grout that he was never quoted for and didn't charge him anything else. In the end the client said he was very happy and that he would fix the review on Angie's List and now its been OVER A YEAR and it never was done. We made sure that YOU were happy in the end and that's all we can do on OUR part at Groutlines.com."
Rob was easy to get along with and was very considerate of our time and property, arriving on time and covering the floors (from entry way to bathroom) to protect them. He worked steadily and completed the project in a timely manner. Most importantly, we were highly satisfied with the quality of his work; it was excellent.
The whole process, from first call to completion of work, was professionally handled. And the finished job looks great, with that "like new" look! We plan on using Grout Lines again, for other tile work, as we continue to make upgrades to our home.
"[member name removed] , were very happy , your happy..... as its our only goal .. thank you for kind words . sincerely bob Dinkel [hyperlink removed]"
"thank you for kind words, and for the opportunity wishing you and family a very happy ,healthy new year. regards Bob grout lines.com"
They did a great job and the finished area looks new yet still matches up with the other tile areas in the bathroom. It took longer than anticipated due to the rework of the walls to which the new tile was installed plus having to match the other tile that was not being removed. Even so they stayed with the quote/estimate and did a very professional job. I am thrilled with how it turned out.
There were 2 to 3 workers who worked the job at different times but the main guy was Brian (maybe Bryan) who worked long and hard and was careful to coordinate things with me.
I was very pleased and would use them again and highly recommend them to others.

They performed the work as scheduled and exactly as I had expected. They also pointed out the reason I was having mold/mildew problems and fixed that at no additional cost. It has been a year now and the grout has held and still looks great. I also am o longer having mold/mildew problems.
I could not have been happier with their service. A+ all the way.
"[member name removed], first I am happy to hear all is good with work done still and no issues er later ... thank you again for choosing grout lines .com . also I thank you for kind words . sincerely Bob Dinkel www.groutlines.com"
This is the second time we had them work on our tile. They are very professional and easy to work with. I am thankful for the job they did both times. The tile installed 8 years ago looks new again. The first job was trouble free for 3 years as estimated by Brian.
I also know they are responsive if problems develop since the job before this one had a minor touch up and Brian came over right away to solve the problem.
