I called Blanchard's for 3 reasons, they are a local family owned business, they were recommended by a friend and they have an excellent rating on Angie's List.
I called on Tuesday morning and they were going to come out that afternoon. They called back to say the job they were on was taking longer than expected and asked if it was OK to come the next morning. This is understandable and normal for any like type service business so not a problem.  We scheduled for 8:30 the next morning.
At 8:10 Wednesday morning they called to say they were on the way and arrived about 8:40 (that's close enough to on time for me).  I explained what was happening and we agreed it was the main line.  I told them about where the pipe came from under the house.  This is when I learned something I didn't know and I have owned this house for almost 20 years.  In addition to the clean out at the road (for town use) there is also one at the house about a foot outside the foundation (also in addition to the one under the house at  the beginning of the line.  They dug down about a foot and there it was right where they knew it would be.
The guys took the cap off and had the drain running clear in no time.  I asked them to leave the clean out uncovered so I can raise it closer to ground level as to keep from having to dig it up if this should happen again.  They also told me the cause of this is most likely a tree that was planted to close to the line and it created a low spot.  They recommended the tree be removed to prevent further damage.  I will take this under advisement.

I've been using these people for years. I think the price was good. I have gotten an estimate before and it was lower than the estimate. I've used them half a dozen times already.

On Wednesday, 9/3/2013, I discovered that my toilet and shower were not draining. I called several plumbers from Angie's List, and Blanchard's was the only one that could come that morning. I spoke to them at 9 AM and they were at my home by 10:30 AM. Since I did not have a sewer cleanout plug installed on my line, they had to remove the toilet to snake the line. After working for some time without success, they located the line outside by digging a hole in the yard. At that point, they discovered that the old terracotta sewer pipe was collapsing, which was likely the cause of the blockage. They attempted to clear the line from that point on, using their auger and a water jet. They also contacted the town of Fuquay and tried to get them to use their equipment to clear the blockage from the street end. They refused, but did mark the location of my sewer line. The men from Blanchard's worked for several hours, trying to restore at least minimal drainage so that I could use the toilet, but were unsuccessful.
At this point, my only option was to have a new line installed. Blanchard's arranged to have the other utility lines marked, and told me to call them back when that was done. That happened on Friday morning, and they were at my home by 11 AM, within an hour of being notified that the other lines had been marked. Two employees worked until 7 pm that day, digging the ditch for the new line and laying the pipe. I was very impressed with the skill displayed in using earth-moving equipment in the very confined space of my backyard. The operator took great care to minimize damage to shrubs and other plantings. They also had to tunnel under a concrete walkway, and work around a gas supply line.
Once the line was dug, they discovered that the town's line was indeed blocked at the street, and they attempted to get the town employees out to clear the line. They worked as hard as they could to get my line connected and usable before the weekend, but ultimately were unsuccessful due to the lack of cooperation by the town.
I was finally able to get the town to come clear the line on Saturday, and the plumbing was usable after that. After the inspector came on Monday morning, the Blanchard's employees filled the ditch and completed their work by about noon. They did a reasonable job leaving the site in good condition, and removed their trash and most of the roots and other debris dislodged in the digging.
Overall, I felt that they worked hard, were polite and appropriate in their dealings with me, and tried their best to get the job done despite some adverse circumstances and lack of cooperation from the town. I was especially grateful for their efforts to complete the job before the weekend so that I would have usable service.

Mr. Blanchard and his assistant arrived ona Friday afteroon on time and unhooked 9 service sinks so flooring work could be done over the weekend in my office. They where very pleasant and worked arround the areas that where still occupied. The moved thru the rooms without leaving any signs they had been there. They even made sure and plugged the drains so no foul smell would perminate the space.
Mr. Blanchard and his assistand arrived on a Monday morning on time and rehooked 9 service sinks so we could began working by 8:30am. They where clean and efficent and did and excellent job. During the unhook process it was noted that one sink needed a new part. Without being reminder it was installed and at the expected time we where up and running as usual.
Mr. Blanchard and his team are fantastic.

Blanchard's two workers arrived on time as scheduled. I had already purchased the three new faucets and had them conveniently ready, still in the boxes. When I made the appointment, I had given the scheduler detailed information on what needed to be done. However, I found it necessary to repeat the services needed when the workers arrived. The men worked for approximately two hours. I have used Blanchard's for about five years, and I had previously been impressed with the professionalism of the workers. In the past they have always been extra careful in keeping things clean and orderly. Extra care such as removing their shoes while in my home have been appreciated. However, this time the workers failed to remove their shoes and to my disappointment did track in some red mud. In addition, a dirty stain was left on one of my bathroom rugs during the process of removing the old drain pipes in one bathroom. A little extra care could have prevented this problem.

THEY CAME AND ASSESSED THE JOB BEFORE THEY STARTED WORKING SO THAT THEY WOULD HAVE THE RIGHT PARTS. THEY DID IT IN AN EFFICIENT MANNER. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM BECAUSE THIS IS A GOOD COMPANY.
