We test drove several cars on 8/29/13 then came back on 8/30 to pick up the vehicle we wanted and get our trade-in vehicle appraised. We made them an offer, which they accepted, and the entire process was VERY low pressure and easy. We had a copy of the carfax report, and the car was priced below Kelly Blue Book value and the car had been well maintained and was very clean. Overall, I think it was the easiest car purchase we had ever made, and will definately go back to this dealer when we start looking for a vehicle for our teenage daughter.

Anchor Auto Sales is a little different than your traditional dealer. All of their cars have a fixed price clearly displayed on each window sticker. They will not negotiate on this price at all, and in fact, they have a chart clearly posted inside that shows what the total and quot;out the doorand quot; price will be with all taxes and fees based on their various price points. Their doc fee is only $199, so the sticker price is pretty close to the and quot;realand quot; price of the car. I have also heard them say several times, that all the sales staff work as a team and that it is not necessary to come back to talk to any particular person if you are interested in a purchase. Their test drive policy is also straight-forward. You go into the office and tell them which car you want to drive -- they will get a copy of your license and then hand you the keys, a dealer plate, and a driving permit. On the Saturday that my wife and I visited, they were actually so busy that we had to wait 15 minutes or so before a license plate became available to use. The car was also out of gas, so the sales rep handed me a voucher and told me to go get $10 in gas at the station up the street.... this was a bit unusual, but it was a nice trade-off for being given more time with the car and not having a salesman ride around with us. In a strange way, getting the gas ourselves also helped us get a feel for what driving the car in the and quot;real worldand quot; might be like. Also, they have a LOT of cars on their lot and since they're not grouped by make or model, its easier to look up the cars on-line from your phone to find a car you want to see than it is to to just and quot;browse the lotand quot;.
All in all, I found their prices to be very good and their service also to be good. My wife found a car she wanted to look at, we drove it, and we decided to buy it. The car was checked out by my mechanic and deemed to be in great condition. It was missing an armrest that is normally attached to the driver's side but was mechanically sound. They have an on-site shop to due basic maintenance and they also detail their cars very well (the engine compartment looked like you could eat off of the motor). When we test drove the car, we noticed the radio did not work. The dealer agreed to replace the radio while we waited. The salesman ended up staying about an hour after closing to finish our purchase, but he did not seem and quot;botheredand quot; by us. Everything was very smooth.
3 of the tries looked brand new, but the 4th one was worn out. Our mechanic recommended a 4-wheel alignment and then gave us a price on replacing the tire. I called Anchor Auto about a week after the purchase and they agreed to sell me a tire at their cost -- just $45 installed! They said they normally do not do work for the public after a purchase is complete, but they agreed to help me out since I was unable to find this brand of tire anywhere else (I wanted it to match the other tires).
One last word on their hold policy -- they will not hold a car for you, even to take to a mechanic, without a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit! That means you have to take the car to be looked at during their regular business hours and if that means waiting a day or two to work into your schedule -- you just have to risk having the car sold before you can complete the deal (unless you're willing to lose your deposit if a problem is found). Their minimum deposit is $300, and if you decide not to buy the car, you can only apply it towards a future purchase.
Online reviews of this dealership are mixed -- many people said they bought several great cars at good prices, while others complained the cars they bought were junk. I think Anchor Auto has a good business model and friendly service, but I do not explicitly trust every car they have on the lot or everything that they tell me. They will allow you to have the car looked at by a mechanic and you should! It's buyer beware -- do your homework and you can probably get a good deal on a car from them in a low-pressure environment. If something seems off, just walk away and keep looking. I would definitely check them out next time I need a car.
