Mr. Dawson was a genial man, and I was taken in by his offer. When I asked him to stop and give me a bill for the cleaning and soffit repairs, it was ten times the original quote. The real kicker was when I discovered that the gutters had not been cleaned! The gunk in the bottom of one section, that had been removed for soffit repairs, still had the original debris in the bottom, though a light scrape and inverting the gutter while on the ground would have cleaned it. I relearned a lesson I thought I already knew: never allow a person who presents at the door to do any work on your home!! The short job ended with about two days work. The roof section that he pronounced as bad had recently been inspected by my regular roofing contractor, and pronounced as sound.
