J and S Landscaping and Design

We used J&S for a couple of landscaping projects years back at other homes. After using a few other landscapers in our current home, we decided it was time to call J&S again. We have several projects we want done. The first was trim up large shrubs, remove unwanted shrubs, overall prune/clean-up and put in drainage system. From the start both Suzanne & Jonathan are professional and up front with everything. They're work is impeccable! They did a fantastic job of  recommending what we needed, fixing what had been done incorrectly, and leaving everything nice and neat and perfect! Not to mention, they're just good people and fun to talk to! We can't wait to get the other projects done.  

I can't say enough good things about this company. First Suzanne provided an EXCELLENT consultation; by far better than anyone else who came to my home. She discussed the project with me in detail and got back to me about an estimate quickly. Suzanne and Jon were responsive to every question I had before and during the project. The work they did looks great and I am extremely happy with it. There were some issues with the stones after the project was finished, but Jon and Suzanne responded quickly to my calls and emails and the problem was fixed quickly. I would definitely use them again.

Though I had to wait a fairly long time for the work to be done, I was very pleased with my whole experience with J & S Landscaping. Suzanne was very responsive to my request for an estimate, and she seemed to "get" my vision for the driveway, even though it was an uncommon installation. She was very personable and professional. The work was overseen by Jonathan, who was friendly and easy to work with. He made several improvements to the design while work was in progress, and I was very pleased with the final result. I would recommend this company for their professionalism and quality of work.

Exceptional level of service and professionalism. Suzanne consults, designs and draws out the plans for reviews. Jonathan manages the installation and making her vision a reality. I recommend this wife/husband team anytime I get a chance and without reservation. They were truly awesome to work with on every aspect of these projects.

Suzanne did the estimating and planning, and Jon and his guys did the installation. I had a design in mind, and Jon helped me extensively with the details. The result is exactly what I wanted and couldn't find in most contractors' portfolios: A natural, graceful, inviting patio that ties the house to the backyard perfectly. He took extra time - which contractors hate to do - to be sure he got it just like we wanted it, and still got it done in three days as promised. He and his men were consistently professional, and nice guys to boot. This job was part of a year-long whole-house remodel, and this company was one of only two who worked on the house that I would enthusiastically recommend to others. Highly satisfied with the process and the outcome!

Although weather-related delays of other projects caused the initial start date to slip a bit, Suzanne kept us informed throughout. When John and his crew arrived on the first day he took time to answer our last-minute questions while his efficient crew removed our condemned shrubs in minutes. The cost of this project began to make sense as we saw the work in progress. Suffice it to say, there is a lot more to building retaining walls than stacking stones above ground level. The results are lovely, and their workmanship is excellent. We plan to use them next year to plant shrubs in this area.

Suzanne worked with us to design the patio areas and walkway. She was extremely thorough and very knowledgeable and always reachable. We had to have a deck torn down prior to the work starting. John and his crew worked tirelessly laying Belgard pavers for the patio which included adding a wide landing area off our sunroom and four wide and long steps coming down to the patio. In one area of the patio they did a circular design with different shades of pavers for our table and chairs. They built 2 approximately
2 1/2 foot tall sitting walls on one end with an opening in between them for the bbq. They followed with a curved walkway of pavers leading to another smaller circular area for which we placed a water fountain. They installed and buried piping drains from the gutters on the rear of the house, along a newly formed garden between the house and the new patio, and down the back lawn to drain into the wooded area. They also reinforced our sunroom with stone columns on each corner. They graded the lawn area around the patio to a soft slope into the existing lawn. This was done in 2011 and to date it looks as perfect as the day they finished the work. We haven't had a single issue with it. We couldn't be more pleased and satisfied with their work. We highly recommend them to anyone contemplating hardscape projects. They were a pleasure to work with.

Suzanne and Jonathan weren't the cheapest estimate but the work is professional and you get what you pay for. We had used some other company for stone retaining walls in the front yard and when Jonathan finished the wall in back yard, I asked them to redo front yard wall because you could tell the difference in quality.
Many companies can do the basic landscaping work but very few of them can do drainage, landscaping and stone wall. They were also very accommodating as I asked them to dig trenches to add landscape lights.
I plan to use their services at our new house in near future.

Suzanne did most of the designing and managing of the bid, Jonathan and his crew did the installing and for a few years a twice a year maintenance. I put a B in the price form not because their prices were not absolutely appropriate; in my opinion they gave all the value they received and then some. However to have put an A might have implied that they were somehow cheap. They are not the low priced mayonnaise. Instead they are a very high quality operation whose product, though not cheap - is worth easily as much and more as its cost. We did not spend the amount of money we did on any single project. The date listed above is wrong because the web site would not allow us to put in the real dates: Multiple occasions between 2008 and 2012 on multiple projects because we were so satisfied with their work We could not be more pleased.
Would we use them again - we have already done so. Over and over.

.Wall has been up 7 years and still looks like new. It is made of Anchor stone and varies from 6 feet high to just a couple of feet high and is about 40 feet long. My neighbor loves it too. Sod went well. Only thing lacking in the entire job is that one bush that died during warranty period was never replaced and the choice of bushes was probably not exactly what were were trying to describe to them. But the major part of the deal was the wall and it was tremendous. The bush was probably not replaced due to a mix up and I never bothered to call them a second time about it.

We started using Jand S approximately 10 years ago. Over the years since then, we have installed rock walls, numerous bushes, plants, and trees. When needed, we call Jand S to trim bushes and rely on them to take care of spraying and mulching of the grounds. I could not be more impressed with their expertise and professionalism and would highly recommend them.
