"As I explained to this customer, we were having issues with the tech that was supposed to be on the job, the owner Richard came out to complete this job, so the customer did not have to reschedule to another day....which is NOT typical. When Richard arrived on site the customer did not have any materials, as explained on the coupon, materials ARE NOT included, and if we pick up there is an additional charge...the job was completed early, and this customer refused to pay for materials because all the time paid was not used. We were not reimbursed for our time spent shopping or for the materials, and when I followed up with this customer there were no complaints discussed, including "the mess left". If there is an issue with the work done, or any mess that was left, it should of been brought to the tech's attention or called into the office. As customer service is our main priority here, we tried many ways to make this customer happy."
"I show no records of this appointment being missed, I have done a follow up with the customer, the only thing requested was to caulk a shower, which is basic handyman services, so if there was an issue the office could of been contacted back in August. If there was an issue with a refund, our company DOES NOT give refunds, that would of came from Angie's list directly....again customer satisfaction is what our company is built off of, so if there was an issue with them tech, or the services you should call or email myself (Jessica, business manager) or Richard (the owner)."
That being said, when I had some follow-up questions, I had a tough time getting in touch with him, as his phone number changed and then changed again. Not a big deal, as he was going above and beyond to give me some advice on something else anyway.
- As I stated Chris arrived on time and performed the duties of hanging each wreath on the windows. Hung a big wreath at the center window and installed a light in the center of the big wreath. Took boxes and and put up on storage ledge in the garage.
- He was fast and efficient and went about the task at hand.
My husband was very pleased with Chris's knowledge. There is other work that was noted by Chris and my husband that needs to be done, like wood repair replacement on outside of house and we will be calling Handyman Solutions and getting them
to do additional work because of Chris, at the begininng of next year. My husband was well pleased with Chris's work ethic, professionalism and knowledge was very personable. As stated you cannot go wrong with this company mainly because Chris represented his company well by showing up on time, did the work gave advise on future work that is needed gave us a business card and told us to call when we are ready. Thumbs up! Would reccomend to a friend and will use them again.
"We are so happy you are pleased with your work, we want to thank you for your business and this outstanding review."
Thanks!
"I have reviewed all email conversations for this customer, she purchased the coupon, emailed for an appointment, as I do for all customers I informed her anything over the 300 sqft that is covered with the deal would be an extra charge, I attempted to set up an appointment after a few days she emailed back they just wanted a refund. I informed her the refunds were through angies list, this is standard for anything paid for through angies list because we are not given credit card information it is purchased through angies list therefore they issue refunds to credit cards, that is the last communication. No appointment was set, no records of confirming an appointment because of the confusion of the "fine print" clearly stated on the coupon. There is no problem getting the work done, as I explained, we had no issues coming to complete the work, but an appointment was NOT requested from this customer."
"As stated clearly on the coupon this is walls only, one coat. Our painters have been doing this their whole lives and are proficient in what they do, so they don't have to spend an entire day in one room. If there are any issues with the quality of work, please contact our office so it can be fixed."
I went around to check on them and discovered quickly that one of the men was standing at the bottom of the ladder watching the other guy install the fans, while there were still two other fans needing to be assembled and a light downstairs to be installed. I came back 20 minutes later and the same thing was occurring. Meanwhile it was taking a long time to get one fan installed. I called Handyman Solutions and spoke to the owner, the father, and told him about what was happening. He was dismayed at their behavior and lack of hard work. He told me he would honor the two hours for $79 and would speak to them to get them to work more efficiently.
After that call, they worked harder and faster. The worker who was the son would not speak to me the rest of the time they were here. No invoice was presented to me and the whole thing was extremely awkward. I will never use Handyman Solutions again.
"This job was estimated around 5 hours to complete with one man, so it was completed under budget for only two additional hours for two men. We strive to make our customers happy, when the tech arrived the customer informed him he would receive a poor rating on Angie's list because he brought a helper (which most electricians do) so already customer satisfaction was lost, after the customer called into the office and spoke to myself I gave the phone to the owner to try to win back that satisfaction and approved a FREE hour of work, plus the already discounted rates of $60 an hour for additional hours (normally priced at $85 an hour) I feel our company did the job correctly, in the allotted time, showed up on time, and gave him a GREAT price considering the work that was completed."
"As with most of our coupons, it is stated on the fine print: " materials not included" the men were prepared to repair the hole however we are not responsible for picking up any materials that is needed. If there was an issue with the workers or the quality of work, this could of been addressed with the owner or myself the manager and repaired with no problem, we are loyal to our customers and are looking to build a life long relationship with them, if this is still an issue please contact our office to better find a resolution for the issue."
Well, yes, you know it...he never called, I called for a couple of days and one evening, while watching TV, I decided to call at or after 8 PM in hopes someone may be working and low and behold, the owner answered. Short story, I asked him how come he didn't call me, again, very busy, etc., etc. So I said, well can you set it up now, he said he was on his way to Hillsborough to do some job but he promises to call me the next day with an appointment. I said to him, you work this late, he said, yes, anything to satisfy my customers. So you know he opened the door and I said, well, I have not been satisfied so far and if I have to fill out a survey at Angie's list, it will not be pretty. He promsies to call and I took his word.
OK, so it happened again, he never called. So I called the office and got the same young lady again and I let her have it. The young lady his his daughter and I asked him, is this how you guys treat your customers, not calling, fulfilling your appointments? I spent a good 45 minutes voicing my anger. She seemed and was apologetic and said she will talk to her father but this has been happening a lot and she was going to book me for, you got it, yet another appointment. I agreed as she said, I promise someone will be there.
Now, I am a small business owner managing rental properties so the longer they are vacant, the more money I loose.
OK, yet again, no one showed up so I got someone else...another Angie's list business...that is another story I'll tell for that business. On with this business, I finally decided I was going to advise Angie's list about what had transpired and wasn't going to call anymore so I continued with this new company. The day that the company came by to finish the job, at about 4:30 PM, a Jeep pulled up. Two people where in there and they parked in front of the residence...I was on my way out as well. The guy walked past me, up into the property and I asked, "can I help you?" He said he was there to see me and I asked him who he was and he told me. So I said, you couldn't call, never showed up, e-mail me or anything? Now mind you, the few minutes he was with me, he was on the phone constantly and in the Jeep was his wife, also on the phone. He came in, I told him what I wanted done, he said he will have his daughter call to set up an appointment to get it done and yes, you can say it, that was the last I heard from him or saw his team.
I am really angry as I paid him for services never rendered. He is a thief and does not have any work ethic. I caution anyone wanting to use this company to beware.
The old adage...you get what you pay for...is true in this case. The price is good, his work may be good for those who are satisfied, but for this customer, I will never recommend or use him.
"Customer Satisfaction is very important to the company and to myself. This is a job that was set up during our very first big deal, while hiring new office staff, that is no excuse to how this customer was treated, or how the appointments were missed, after Richard went out to look at the job (which is not something we typically do for a coupon) there were other attempts on my part to get this customer on the books to get the work completed. Seems as if there was a complete lack of good communication causing an irate customer who we are very sorry to loose, as I explained to the customer I myself would try to have someone take care of it, but at that point she already had another company working on her home, I (the business manager) only had once chance to speak with the customer, and I only have records of one appointment missed and one appointment in which the owner was late for. Again as I have said to the customer, I am very sorry for the lack of commitment from our company, and am sorry we could not do business for her."
They also had enough time to take a look at and repair a sliding door screen I was having issues with.
Over-all very pleased and will call them again in the future.
The last 6' of the hallway was over a half-flight of stairs and the painter said he did not have a ladder with him to do that work. I had the following discussion with him:
?
Him: I cannot reach over the steps to do the ceiling there, so I will feather it in to the existing paint.
Me: Will it match that last 6' over the steps?
Him: You might have to paint it.
Me: No. There can be no painting. I am closing/selling the house in 48 hours. It must match.
Him: Oh, sorry. It will match. The old product we used would not match, but the new product will match.
He painted 24', but it took a long time because he was working alone and he ran out of paint midway through the job and had to go to Lowes to pick up more. All toll, this meant I was away from my job for 6 hours instead of 3 hours.
And, the biggest thing, I would not know if the paint would match until it dried.
Later that night, I was emailed by the painting company owner with the request to talk up their company on various web sites. I explained the delays I encountered, but said I would be satisfied if the whole 30' matched. He responded it should match as long as the paint was mixed properly and he was confident it was since the painter was experienced. He closed with asking him to contact him "if there is an issue with the color."
I sold the house two days later and the new homeowner contacted me a couple days afterwards to say the paint did not match, so I contacted the painting company owner and they contacted the new homeowner to set up an appointment.
I've been informed the new homeowner was told it would be another $200 to paint the 6'x4' remaining feet. Further, the written contract stated the color might not match without painting.
My position is that if the paint might not have matched then painter should have said so. When the painter said it would match then the provider should stand behind his statement ("oral contract") instead of pointing to the written contract. If the paint might not have matched the whole 30' then the provider should have refunded my money instead of doing an incomplete job.
Further, the provider has not responded to my follow-up email on the subject nor an email from the new owner.
This was a negative experience for me.
===== Update on 05Nov2012 =====
The new owner has communicated to me that she sent a picture of the ceiling to the provider and the provider painted the last 6' of the ceiling that matches to her satisfaction. Accordingly, I have updated the rating.
Much of the issue here seems to have miscommunication or lack of communication, and all parties played a part in that.
"Our company was not advised of the discussion with the tech until weeks later, and once we were informed it was an issue we attempted to try to figure out exactly what the problem was. We have had constant contact with the new owner of the house, we were informed the paint didnt match, with the coupon painting is not included in the deal, as explained if it were the texture we would fix it, if not the painting would be extra. We had an appointment set up to fix this and the new homeowner didnt make it after our techs sat for over two hours waiting for her, when she was rescheduled, I tried to get more info..after some discussion, she sent some pictures, so we sent two guys over yesterday....after the work has been fixed I really hope the ceiling is fine, which we will follow up with HER to assure of this."
