Tech also said there was a bunch of wiring that needed repair. After I drove 10 hours to inspect, (this is a rental property), I saw one wire that the insulation had gotten hot, (not caused by the wire) but was not melted. 5 cents worth of wire and less than 5 minutes to replace for an $88.00 dollar estimate.
I had the feeling I was being GOUGED and asked the tech what the model number was. His reply was as follows;
> It is a Nordyne brand heater but i do not know the age because the tag
> with the model and serial for the heater is gone. There is a tag for
> the coil but I did not get this since I was working on the heaters
> electric strips. Sorry. It does appear to be a fairly old unit though.
I was able to take a picture of the Coleman model number, (which may have been made by Nordyne), which is in very good condition.
I'm not sure if it was just this tech or this was the policy of the company but I WOULD NOT recommend!

The service you secured with a credit card before we came to your home was for the diagnostic and truck charge for $69. We charge this fee to send a service tech to the location to check out the system to determine what the problem may be. We always make sure our customers know what this charge is for and get approval before we secure the payment. As you will notice there was no charge for the estimate to fix your 1997 model unit. We figured out what the problem was, told you and you chose to make the repair yourself. This is totally acceptable from our stand point. You were certainly under no obligation to have us do the repair. Again I am sorry for the misunderstanding. Bruce Auld"

Overall it went very well. We called Andrews Auld and they made the appointment to come the following Monday or Tuesday.The representative came and toured the house. Answered our questions and informed us how things would have to go in.
We got an estimate by e-mail the next day and three chooses of units that would work in out house. We took the middle choose of unit pricing.
Once we agreed. they came the next week to start. and finished in 3 or 4 days. (Same week)The electrician was happy to see we had space in the electrical box for the new breakers to run the unit. He did his job in time with the installers to have the unit up and running in one in same week
And Andrews Auld was considerate about contacting us about the county inspection of the electrical. Which was done quickly to my way of thinking.
We were happy with the work and Happy to be cool this summer.
