Auto Body Work
I had George work on my car twice, both minor jobs. His work was OK and comparatively cheap. The third time I left my car for three days as he required, another minor job. I rented a car and returned three days later. As I drove up, I saw my car was still parked in the spot I had left it. No work had been done. When I expressed my displeasure, George got angry and offered no excuse except to say he had better-paying jobs he wanted to get done first. By all means, go to Wreck Amend if you enjoy wasting your time and money. If not, find someone else who is more reliable.

Excellent work. Worked on some scratches elsewhere on my car that were no part of the bid & did not charge extra.

Auto Body Work
George, the owner told me to bring it in on the following Monday and that it would be ready on the Wednesday after that. Since it was not an insurance job, I paid out of pocket to rent a car for the 3 days. When I arrived on Wednesday afternoon, my car had not been touched. George indicated that he had gotten a job that paid more and he had chosen to do it rather than mine. Time wasted, money wasted. George should 'a stood in Brooklyn.

Service was prompt; cost was as initial estimate. Personnel were very professional. Best auto repair experience I have had. This shop goes to the top of my list. How could it not be with such a delightful play of words for the name of a business!!

Personable when first walked in shop. Checked vehicle to see if he could repair damage. Scheduled repair in a reasonable amount of time. Repairs complete on scheduled date. Can't even tell where damage was and paint blended and matched perfectly.

About two years ago I had a dent in the door of my car and I stopped at the body shop Wreck Amended ready to pay $200/300 to have it fixed. The manager, George Connolly, asked to wait for 30 minutes and returned the car in perfect condition at no charge. I did not forget and when I had a car accident two weeks ago with a demolished front, I went first to see Wreck Amended.
We discussed the work involved and I got an estimate of $1200. Nevertheless, I checked with Angie's LIst and got estimates from the two body shops with the most favorable reviews by you. Their estimates ranged from $2800 to $3800. While the labor at $41 to $42 per hour was the same, Wreck Amended's estimate showed less time needed and the charge for parts was up to 50% lower (hood grill etc.) and they held the cost down by repairing some parts rather than replacing them.
WRECK AMENDED completed the job to my fill satisfaction for $1200.00.

This involved repair to my car following a hit-and-run accident to my car by a drunk driver. The police chased the other driver but were unable to apprehend him. My insurance covered the full cost of all repairs. My rating above pretty much explains it all. The shop was quick to agree to do the repairs for the insurance quote, but very slow to actually get the work done. I was given an estimate of 7-10 days for the repairs to be completed and it actually took over six weeks and three trips to have all the work done to specifications. When I did call to check on progress, calls were rarely returned, and never in a timely manner. They did not test drive the car before returning it to me the first time and the doors/trim were so out of line it sounded like a tornado when driving above 45 MPH. I returned to the shop and they kept the car for another week. When I got it back, they had fixed the door fit and trim on the driver's door but the passenger door still roared with wind noise at highway speed. Again, they had not road tested the car before returning it to me. I returned the car again to correct that problem, as well as to have numerous interior trim pieces properly fastened, which had been forgotten when they had put the car back together the first time. I also found that the suspension work we had agreed would be done had not been done and I had to have them finish that part of the job as well. That took another two weeks. When I got the car back this time, most of the work appeared to be done, but I noticed that the paint on the running board did not have clear coat (important as this area gets a lot of rain and road dirt on it) and there were some chips of paint flaking off the door frame where it had been bent to fit it better to my car. My car is a light color and I noticed that they had used a bright colored used door to replace mine and the bright color was showing through. It did not appear to have been stripped, or even sanded well before being sprayed. I am not sure if this is acceptable protocol for painting a used door, but it doesn't make much sense to me, as any paint that is chipped off by normal driving on interstates will show the bright color underneath. I stopped by the shop and was told that the place where the paint had flaked off could be touched up, as could the place on the running board that was poorly painted, but it would involve leaving my car for another 7-10 days. At this point it had been six weeks and I'd had enough so I just left the car as it was. I would like to point out that during this process I was never rude or demanding, just insistent that the work be done properly. The shop never denied that the issues that I found were insignificant, they just stated that it was normal procedure for someone to have to come back to "fine tune" the job. I disagree. I think they should have kept better track of the repairs on the car, and road tested it before returning it to me each time instead of relying on me to drive back to the shop, be without my car for extended periods of time, and have to be picked up and dropped off at the shop each time I thought it was finally repairs properly. I would summarize the shop as sloppy, and inconsiderate of the customer's time.
