I have dealt with these folks for all my plumbing needs for about 10 years now, and have requested Adam as our plumber each and every time.
The work is high quality, the materials are high quality and they charge for it. Generally same day service, and these guys don't knock off at 5pm if it's a big job; they keep on going till it's done (and they charge by the job, not the hour). They wear booties to ensure they don't soil your floors, they clean up after themselves. Then they follow up and make sure everything is working well.
While the cost is generally higher than one would anticipate, the responsiveness and work ethic is 100% worth the premium.
I have had just about everything done by these guys; water heaters at multiple locations, expansion tanks, softeners, neutralizers, filtration, sinks (both drop in and under mount), faucets, toilets, shower heads, general repairs... the list goes on. I cannot more highly recommend these guys, and Adam specifically (with an honorable mention for Juan, Oscar and Richard, each of whom have accompanied Adam at one time or another).

It was fine.  They did what they were going to do.  They were very professional.  Adam was the tech.  It was a little pricy, but they were quick and came the same day.

We had an excellent service from a plumber named Brian Russell. He was very fast and honest. We used them because of recommendations from others.

Our Mr. Rooter associate arrived and was very friendly and knowledgeable and fixed the two leaks in less than ten minutes.  That costed my wife and I 175 dollars.  More money than we wanted to spend, but at least the leaks were fixed.  I took a bath the next morning, and there was a NEW leak coming out of the drain of the tub when I uncorked the drain.  I called Mr. Rooter to see if our associate could come and fix that leak, the leak that wasn't there until after he'd fixed the others, and if I'd have to pay for it.  The associate called me and said that he'd been blessed out because he should've charged us 400 dollars in the first place.  Now I still have the leak, and I'm out of the 8 dollars that I just paid to join Angie's List to write this review.  DO NOT CALL MR. ROOTER!  They have too massive an overhead to come and help with small projects.  Though they pride themselves on great, neat customer service, their core values do not include excellence in plumbing.  Pardon the pun, but we just sent 175 bucks down the drain, and writing this review seems to be my only recourse.

Very slow drain and washing machine water backing up in bathtub as well as poorly draining toilet casued me to call plumber. Same day service and he was prompt and decent. However, he was very limited with solutions. Neverthless, I chose for him to attempt unclogging drain from inside house toward street. The wet vac used to suck out the toilet water (before toilet was lifted) sprayed blue powedery stuff all in bathtub area. Much of the blue stuff was not noticeable until water touched it and then it was bright blue and in more places than first thought. The cable equipment seemed inadequate in that it was not heavy duty or sturdy or well maintained. At times plumber had trouble keeping it powered on.  Equipment was unable to cut through roots, and it was acknowledged that the now flowing drain would clog again soon. Also spray from cable went on walls and floor, some of which was not cleaned up.
There were no other options for solution except to jet wash line. He explained that jet washing it would likely break the terra cotta piping. He also advised that terra cotta was not a sound piping and the entire line needed replaced..

Mr. Rooter misdiagnosed my plumbing problem and the result was extensive work performed that was not necessary and a great expense (2,325.76 to replace a 10' piece of plastic pipe and that was with a "discount"). The permit for the work done was applied for one week after the job was completed and after I raised questions about what was done. It is my opinion that this was deliberate in order not to be questioned for the work performed by the evidence of the part being replaced. An inspection at the time of the work as required would have raised the validity of the necessity of the replacement. When I confronted the technician about the pipe not needing to be replaced, he said "You can't prove it". That told me all I needed to know. This permit violation and experience was reported by me and the Buncombe County Inspections office and Mr. Rooter was investigated by Administrative Officer David Boulay of the State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating & Fire Sprinkler Contractors. It is my opinion that I was misled by the technician through deception and/or incompetency of diagnoses in order to “make a sale “motivated by commission. The only service that I actually needed, the septic tank pumped, was one not performed by Mr. Rooter. The owner put a lien on my mother's property for non-payment ( I will not pay to be scammed), did not take me to court and win a judgment but, instead put a collection agency on me for debt collection and "Final notice - If you fail to resolve this debt, you will be reported to the credit bureaus, and your credit record will be negatively affected for up to 7 years. " This company is a licensed, franchised scam operation - in my opinion. Don't even call these guys for an estimate! I wish I had checked Angie's list before I called them. I see that there are all unfavorable reviews here for Mr. Rooter. They had a BBB rating of A+ and that is why I thought I was dealing with a reputable company (HA!). The BBB is  a Trade Organization and apparently corrupt. I will never use that resource again.

After  a few days of using the product i took all the pipes down until the verticals. In view of the amount of g***,   it would have been obvious to ANYONE that the Biochoice was the wrong choice. The liquid staying in the trap overnight and flushed away in
the morning.
To top it all the technician was the "silent type" or lacked of communication skills to get into details. Also he had to go back to his supply house to get the Biochoice.
So with one bottle of product intact and one half used  (at $74 each) I face the prospect of hiring another Cie to clean the drains for a job that i diagnosed myself.
...but he wore his booties

He looked in his not book and stated that he is going to charge a diagnostic charge after we discussed installing the shower head. I told him I was going to pay that because we already agreed on the shower head cost. He then went back and acted like he was surprised when he found a listing of the shower installation in his book. It turned out to be 30 dollars cheaper.

Normal appointment making and keeping. The serviceman was professional and wore shoe covers. The estimate was given before I agreed to service but was so steep that I contemplated having nothing done. However, in the cost analysis, two very expensive diagnostic charges were listed, and as he had already looked at the clogged drains in question, I thought I would likely have to pay that anyway, even if I had nothing done. So I paid an exorbitant amount to have two drains unclogged. Next time I will research a way to fix a problem myself more extensively before calling in the professionals. I think it would help if approximate estimates could be given over the phone.

We had a small back flow into our garage. They had previously run a rooter down the pipe. This time, a TV camera revealed an old, stuck back-flow valve. They found it, dug it up, took out the old valve; a day or so later they returned with a new valve that has a replaceable cartridge that eliminates the need to cut the pipe when it needs replacing. (These valves are basically rubber flaps that only open toward downstream.) We then had another flood a couple of weeks later. Figuring it was a problem with the new valve, we called them back. They came back and found no problem with the valve, but didn't offer to help clean up either. So, my wife and I spent a lovely Saturday afternoon cleaning up and disinfecting our garage. Sunday another flood. Mr. Rooter at no time suggested the problem was not in our line, but it dawned on me it might be the sewer line not our line. So, I phoned the county sewerage district and they sent someone out who discovered a major blockage in the sewer that had been causing all the problems from the beginning. The county had a team come out to clean up and disinfect the garage and its contents on Sunday evening as well as unblocking the line, of course. Earlier, when I asked for help from the Mr. Rooter guys, they did vacuum out the flooded garage. Moral: call the city/county sewerage people first. They can tell you if the problem is theirs or yours.

Not only was this job horribly overpriced, but they did a horrendous job filling in the mess of the trench that they dug and claim to have planted grass seed, which is not the case. They did not compact the ground very well and rainwater has since created a new trench through their so called filling in of the trench they dug. All this work did not take very long at all, especially for the insane price. We and others are appalled at how we were treated like idiots and charged by this company for what little work was actually done. NEVER AGAIN will we use this company!!

Well, I got a new hot water expansion tank, new pressure relief valve for the hw heater. Within 24 hours I had blown the hw valve again. They came out FOUR more times (each time sending water across my floor as the valve blew) and FINALLY placed a meter on the system to see the pressure spike. Sure enough it was the valve I initially questioned (I am not a plumber) and they TRIED to get me to pay for it! So even though I had correctly diagnosed it, they were able to suck $$ out of me for HW valve and expansion tank. Oh, get this, even though the HW valve blew 4 more times, I was NEVER told I needed to replace it, even though they told me originally "if it goes once, it is basically shot." BTW- They are a COMMISSION BASED service, meaning the plumbers actually get paid commission for what they do/sell. I bet they sell more HW expansion tanks in this county.... I will NEVER use this company again.

Dispatcher advised that there was a minimum charge of $39.95 for evaluation. There is no hourly rate. Upon an on time arrival an estimate of $215 was provided. Service was rejected, way out of reason!
Response from Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Buncombe & Henderson Counti
"MR ROOTER USES A STANDARDIZED PRICE GUIDE FOR OUR SERVICES - WE QUOTE THE COST TO COMPLETE THE JOB BEFORE WE DO ANY WORK. WHEN YOU ARE CHARGED BY THE HOUR FOR WORK TO BE DONE, THE CUSTOMER WILL NOT KNOW THE PRICE TO COMPLETE THE JOB UNTIL IT IS FINISHED. THAT WOULD BE SIMILAR TO HANDING A BLANK CHECK TO THE PLUMBER AND SAYING FILL IN THE AMOUNT WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED. WE FIND THAT OUR CUSTOMERS PREFER TO KNOW THE COST BEFORE THE WORK IS COMPLETED. NEARLY 2/3 OF OUR BUSINESS IS WITH EXISTING CUSTOMERS - THEY KEEP COMING BACK FOR A REASON. AT YOUR SERVICE, MR. ROOTER PLUMBING OF BUNCOMBE & HENDERSON COUNTIES"

The work this company did for me was pretty good quality. It was a little pricey though. He did come on time and was responsive to my questions. This was a pretty messy job, and they cleaned it up as best they could. The man was also very courteous and polite.
