1. I called Martha and told her the problem. Martha stated she never would have ordered that transition piece as it was not appropriate for a carpet to tile transition. She stated that is was a lack of communication. Martha said she would make a phone call and return my call. She did not return my call.
2. When I did not hear from Martha (and while the tile sub tractor was still finishing up the last of the tile) I called Horizon back. I asked to speak to the manager and was connected to Rick. I explained the problem to him and told him the cost of correcting the problem was $400.00. We were fortunate that we had enough extra tile left to correct the problem. Rick said that he would pay our sub contractor and to have him stop by Horizon the following morning. I then asked the tile sub contractor to take up the tile and to relay it correctly with the proper transitions the following morning. If Rick had not committed to pay for the labor to correct the problem, I would not have had the tiles removed until I had a respond from him.
3. The following day our sub tractor retuned to finish the work and Rick had refused to pay him Since the tiles were already taken up we had no recourse but to finish the work and to pay the sub contractor "out of pocket".
4. When I called Rick at Horizon to ask why he refused to pay for a job he had committed to the previous day, he used many excuses that were not true. Rick was manipulating the Sub Contractor, the Restoration Company, and me. He was extremely combative on the phone. I have never had any business person speak to me in the manner that he did. When I told him I was going to report Horizon to the "Better Business Bureau he said, "I don't care if you call the mayor, I will not pay you a dime". Rick has no integrity and is a bully. I would never do business with Horizon again.
