The store has an excellent selection in their showroom and we did find lights that we wanted. We found the sales staff to be quite unfriendly, though, and our impression was that they were not very happy there. We were first told that sales were pretty much final but later we found out you can return items, providing they were never installed, with a 25% restocking fee. The fee seems excessive to us and there aren't too many other businesses with a similar policy. At one point, I got really annoyed with one of the staff. Although we were spending over $5000 on new lighting, their overall demeanor seemed like they felt like they were doing us a favor instead of being appreciative of our business. We got what we wanted but we would never go back there again.

Service seems slow. The owner is not friendly, usually engaged w/ someone re: major design work for a home but even when I am standing there on many occasions, she has never spoken to me. She just walks by, even though I am a new customer and need a lot of lighting. She doesn't seem to care.
But someone behind the desk will eventually be available to help. This time the person was so new they were being trained on the computer once I made my purchase and I had to wait while the other woman explained how she needed to enter the sales.
A young man was very helpful packing up the fixtures and carting them and loading them in my car.

Highly professional staff, excellent quality goods, lots of beautiful pieces and the occasional great bargain in their red tag/blow-out sales.
Christie's is the place to go after you get tired of all the junk that Lowe's and Home Depot sell. You can go in and actually discuss your lighting needs with staffers who really know lighting. They'll show you different cost options, new technologies, etc.
Now, they are a bit pricey but you're paying for expertise and upscale products. I think it comes down to this: if you're looking for cheap stuff and just need to get your lighting done and over with ... Christie's is NOT for you.
But if you know and are sensitive to how important lighting is and value knowledge, better quality products and first rate assistance ... you'll treasure this place.

My wife and I recently moved to Western N.C. and were looking for new lamps. We found Christie's listed in the yellow pages. Upon entering the store, we were greeted warmly but left to browse the large selection of lamps at our leisure. We were never rushed nor pushed to purchase. We selected two pairs of table lamps and one stand alone lamp, but were unsure how they would look at home. The owners put the pieces on hold and we returned later that day to purchase. The lamps would not fit in our car so the owner delivered them Satuday morning at an agreed upon time. The service was friendly and first rate and the quality of the lighting was excellent
