Accountants/Tax Consultants
Things started off pretty good with Mr. Cooper. It wasn't until about the 2nd week into tax season that I started to notice certain trends happening. I would call to get an update about my taxes from Mr. Cooper and I would always get his secretary, Veronica, who is an extremely nice person. She would always tell me that he either was A. Not in the office yet, B. On the phone with someone else or C. Was with a client, and that he would call me back. Understandable the first few times but I started to get this every time I called to inquire about my taxes. He would send me very short response emails days later. I started to feel bad for his secretary because I felt it unfair for her to have to deal with the brunt of all of this. After finally getting him on the phone I receive my return a few days after that. Before I get into this part please allow me to explain my situation, I am a military dependent who's spouse is deployed to the middle east. It is very hard for us to send a receive paperwork like this so it takes a few days. There were times when I didn't have all of my paperwork and would have to send him multiple emails with tax information attached. Now after finally getting my return I notice first hand that my wife social security wasn't correct, simple mistake no big deal, but as I looked over it more I noticed that my entire W2 wasn't even on there. I got Mr. Cooper on the phone, after leaving a few voicemails and emails to have this corrected. He said he never received it. I then pulled up the email that had the W2 and stole him the exact date when it was sent, I even resent the email. So he said he would fix it. Now 3 weeks have gone by and I give his office a call again, same response for Ms. Victoria, "He is busy and will call you back soon." At this point I am starting to realize that soon is whenever he feels like it so I go on about my day. The next day I call again and I am told that He is on a call and will call back. No call back just an emailed tax return. I review the return and everything seems to be in place except that he has charged me for fixing his error from the first time. I also notice that none of my school related information is in the document. I call a few hours later and I am told that he will call me before 7pm. 7:30 pm rolls around and still nothing. At this point my wife and I have decided that we'd rather just do our taxes ourselves and would appreciate a refund. I leave him voicemail stating that I would be by his office the next day to acquire my paperwork and a refund. Almost immediately I get a call back from him. He begins to tell me that he can assure me I will not get a refund and that my tax return is good because he has been doing this for 20 years. I inform him that it is not about the taxes at this point and that it is about the lack of communication and poor customer service he has provided me. He tells me that I am using poor customer service as an excuse because I do not like the outcome of my tax return and that I will not get a refund. He then begins to berate me after I mention taking action with the BBB. I then tell him that I will seek legal advice and he tells me that I better have "rounds". Now, I am not sure what he means by "rounds" but I will let you readers make you own conclusions to what that means. I tell him that owing the government $4 is not going to break my bank. He tells me that I am a new client and I inform him that as a new client of his he should be doing everything in his power to make sure I have the best possible outlook on him and his work. I am in the customer service field and I run a small photography/videography business and I would never treat any of my customers the way he treated me. I definitely would not charge a customer for correcting a mistake I made. It looks like at this point I am going to have to eat the money I spent to hire him but it doesn't bother me. I just want to inform the public to avoid his services at all costs.
