Well from the start I gave Tim Pope a list off all the things I wanted to do inside and outside of my new home. I was really excited to work with him, we had know each other previously and he grew up with my mom. "Yeah we can do this!' However, he said it would be next week before he could start because he was finishing another job. No problem on my part, except when next week turned into 3 weeks later. The work didn't even start then, because as he then informed he was not a "drywall guy", which was pretty big because I was replacing all of it. Even the areas he would eventually be doing which would have put him even farther behind. A month after I had been told he would be available he finally started the kitchen. I had planned on opening up a portion of a wall and installing all new cabinets and countertops. "Not a problem, we can do it" were his words, so I believed the opening of the wall would be included in the $950.00 estimate to install the cabinets and countertops. People, my house is less than 1200sq. ft., my kitchen is small. I bought 6 wall cabinets total and 10 base cabinets, that's it, and only 2 pieces of counter top, easy installation. If they had shown up before 12 pm they could have finished in one day. But he rarely shows up before 12. Anyways, so they put most of the kitchen in. I was waiting to purchase the last cabinets, included in the number above and estimate, to make sure we had the space. I paid him the first day of the kitchen install the $950.00 and he came back the next day, no problems, he was going to finish all the details the following week, which he never did. A few days go by and he returns and tiles the kitchen wall. He was there for again 2 days. During those two days I ask about the bathroom floors being tiled and how much those would cost me. I get that with the kitchen wall tile and the two bathrooms, it should be around $1800.00. I asked for a break down of each space, and he couldn't give it to me. I was appalled at that estimate and he saw it. So we reached an agreement for the two floors, wall, and his help in showing me how to install my new floating floor. He asked for the $1100.00 that day because he had some bills he needed to pay and being "friends" and his words exactly, "You know I'm good for it.", I gave it to him. HUGE mistake on my part. He did not show up for another week, however, he did come over and take all of his tools and when I tried to reach him I got every excuse in the book from family issues, medical issues, some days I didn't even get an excuse or a phone call. I waited for a few days to call, since he didn't call me, I was genuinely concerned about him. Finally, a week and a half later he shows up to my house, for 15 minutes at 3pm, but he doesn't have the right materials. The next day he shows up and takes out the toilet and vanity. Gets to the floor and decides that it's too wet to work on so he lets it dry for 2 additional days. Again, he shows up to my house but doesn't have the right tile, it went on like that until finally he completed the first bathroom floor. I had asked him if he could have everything completed by the 15th so I could finally move it, 3 months later, "Yeah absolutely". On the 15th with only one floor done he calls me and asks if we had agreed to $1800 or $1100?..... Seriously, I told him no that he was already paid in full and that I could not afford anything more, "Don't get upset, I was just wondering, I'll be there tomorrow." Well since that day he has not returned my phone calls, text, or letters of intent to sue him. Nothing I am now waiting to file suit against him for a refund of $1000.00. I do not recommend him at all!!! From the finished work I've seen, he's decent, but not worth the time or money he asks for.
Description of Work: Installed kitchen cabinets, countertops, tiled a wall in kitchen, and was suppose to tile two bathrooms and aid in floor installation.
