Workers had neither the correct equipment nor any real idea on how to install this thing and hook up the downdraft system. The cooktop downdraft tubing was too large for the actual in house tubing 5.25" verses 4". They opted to cut slots into the installed tubing and kind of bend it over the cooktop tubing, then tape it with aluminum tape. Any kind of residue that would have fallen into the downdraft would have been stored in the tubing forever or until it rotted. I finally informed Sears that this type of garbage was not worth the $169.00 and to have it redone. The follow on installer brought a reduction tube with him which however was too large, so just stuffed the tubing into that opening and taped that together. Now I have the same problem as I did before, but the residue falling in there will be located about 2 inches higher. I gave up, it is not worth talking to these folks at Sears, although most of their products are fair to good, their service work truly stinks. The reason we purchased this cooktop was that it had exactly the size of the opening in the granit counter top that is required without having to have it recut the counter top one more time.
