In April I cleaned the windows for the first time by pulling them forward. All windows performed well except for one. It appeared to be misaligned. Since the windows were still under warranty I called the company. The president came out and said that the window was not misaligned but that I was not closing it properly. He asked to borrow a screw driver and did something to some of the hardware (pivot pin?).
I continued to have problems with this window each time I pulled it forward to clean. The window became disengaged from some of its hardware on June 24. We called the president who said he would come out but never showed. I made a follow-up call and he said his staff was on vacation. I called again on July 22 and was told by the president the he would come in the morning the next day. He never called or showed. I called him this morning (July 24) and he came. He said that the window had been properly installed and that we must have damaged it. I insisted that I had been very careful with all of the windows, had no problems with any of the other windows and that this window appeared to be faulty in some way. He insisted that that could not be and that we must have "abused" it. He said for that reason he could not repair it without charge. The conversation began to escalate into an argument at which point I ended it and he left.
I am generally happy with the new windows but I never dreamed that I would have such trouble having a problem resolved from a local, well-establish business. The president behaved as if he did not want to correct the problem. He could be disagreeable and tended to interrupt me when I was trying to explain the problem. It was quite inappropriate of him to tell us we had "abused or "done something" to the window. In the end it was obvious that he would not move on his opinion and we decided to have no more dealings with this company.

PIPING STICKING OUT OF MY YARD AND WASHING AWAY THE SAND HE HAD SPREAD AND GRADED. I AGAIN IDENTIFIED PROBLEMS WITH HIS WORK AND HOW HE HAD BUILT THE RETAINING WALL FORM WHICH MADE IT LOOK LIKE IT WASN'T GOING TO BE A SOLID THICKNESS THROUGHOUT THE POOR AS WELL AS NO FOOTERS BEING DUG SINCE THE DECK THAT WAS TO BE BUILT ABOVE THE PAD WAS GOING TO HAVE ITS SUPPORTS PLACED ON THE CONCRETE. I ALSO ASKED WHEN THE BUILDING INSPECTOR WAS GOING TO COME OUT AND INSPECT THE WORK BEFORE THE CONCRETE POOR AND NEITHER JIM NOR PETE HAD AN ANSWER FOR ME. I CALLED THE PINEHURST BUILDING PERMIT OFFICE MYSELF AND LEARNED THEY HAD NOT EVEN SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION FOR A BUILDING PERMIT FOR THE WORK THEY WERE CONTRACTED TO PERFORM. IT TOOK ANOTHER 3 DAYS FOR THEM TO SUBMIT A BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION TO THE VILLAGE BUT BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT FAMILIARIZED THEMSELVES WITH THE PINEHURST REQUIREMENTS, THEY RAN INTO SEVERAL ISSUES. FINALLY JIM CAME BACK TO ME AND OFFERED TO AMEND THE CONTRACT TO ONLY THE ROOF, BASICALLY SAYING THAT THEY GAVE UP ON MY PROJECT AND WEREN'T INTERESTED IN COMPLETING THE WORK ANYMORE. THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE BY UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESSMEN WHO HAVE SEEMINGLY NO PRIDE IN THE WORK THEY PERFORM AND PUT VERY MINIMAL EFFORT, IF ANY AT ALL, INTO CORRECTING ANY KIND OF MISTAKES OR ADDRESSING GRIEVANCES THAT A CUSTOMER BRINGS UP. **Update** I went to their offices to sign the amended contract during which time they tried to say I owed them another $2500. I told them I would not sign the amended contract or pay them anymore money until I received an itemized invoice detailing every expense they were billing me for above and beyond my $6,000 money up front. A month after asking for the invoice and not hearing anything, I received a small claims court summons from them. I hired a lawyer and filed a counter-claim for breach of contract since they had not finished all work hired to perform as per the contract. They showed up to court without a lawyer or even a copy of the contract we had signed. Their claim was dismissed because they couldn't prove they had entered into a binding contract with me and the magistrate awarded me $2,500 for the breach of contract counter-suit in December 2013. As of mid-May 2014, they still have not paid the judgement against them. I have had to file a Writ of Execution with the Sheriff's office in order to try to get payment from them and recoup at least a little of the money I've had to spend during this whole ordeal.
THIS IS YOUR WARNING. SUCCESS RATE FOR THIS BUSINESS IS 60%. IF YOU'RE WILLING TO TAKE THAT RISK THEN CALL THEM UP AND TAKE YOUR ROLL AT THE DICE. I had 5 jobs done at my house in March 2014.
1.New back french doors - water comes in the bottom, wood rotting and MOLDING and carpet getting wet and molding. REFUSES TO ACTUALLY REPAIR THE ISSUE THAT THEY CREATED. It was not like this, leaking and rotting before.
2.New entry put in wall - aesthetically displeasing - not getting repaired. Looks horrible and my children trip over it and fall almost daily.
3. New roof on house - Discovered they put shingle paper over a hole with no particle board first. - Came and fixed that. Let's just hope the rest of the roof that I can't see looks ok.
4. All New windows in the home. - No problems thus far.
5. New front glass storm door - No issues
Paid them CASH $18,500+ without delay.... Now that I have issues, they're picking and choosing what they're willing to repair. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!! I just wanted to update everyone ... I posted a review January 7, 2016. The owner of this company sent a professional inspector out to my house, that he paid for. The inspector was John Watkins and his company name is Home Inspector From H***. He checked out the French doors and said that they were installed improperly. That took place about 3 weeks ago. The owner of the company knows this is his fault, still refuses to speak with me on the phone, and is still refusing to help me get this issue fixed. I paid him around $1,000-1,500 for this job and I'm going to have to spend close to that AGAIN to fix this problem. BE WARE!!! This could be you if you roll the dice with this company!
"Thank you!"
"We have completed two projects for the [removed member name]. The first was completed on 7/28/08 and the second was completed on 8/31/09. There is no project for the Wilkersons that was completed on 11/26/13."
that they had scheduled with my wife a total of about four times. My wife is a full-time student, and her time is very valuable.
They changed their time-line and promised to have the doors completed before Thanksgiving. That did not happen! The first door was installed after Christmas, and it took until January 2012 to install three security doors and they never replaced my inside door that leads into the garage. This was an embarrassment! I did not want to pay this company, but I did anyway because I was just over the whole d*** thing!
"We arrived at the [removed member name] home within two hours of their phone call. They called us because their house had been burglarized. We installed one door on the same day. The front door with two side-lites and two other special order storm doors were not in stock. We had to wait until the special-order doors arrived. Also the door that [removed member name] refers to that leads into his garage was not part of the contract/agreement. Thank you"
"At the time of the roof replacement, was advised that he needed a new chimney, however he did not contract with us to build a new, brick chimney. We will note that he has had another contractor do the work, as we are no longer responsible for work done on the home once another contractor has been involved. This is per our contract. Thank you."
"Thank you."
"Thank you."
"In 2011 they called for a service and were advised of the $89.00 trip charge. They did not want to pay it. We have heard nothing further."
