Overall, poor experience. Bad project managing led to numerous frustrations. In short, management worked hard to fix the problems after they happened and very badly wanted to correct issues, but it does not remove the frustrations of the poor work the initial go round. Unfortunate experience, but I hear that this is not the norm for the company.

My insurance covered most of it. They were fine. I didn't really have anything that was bad I knew of. They did what they were supposed to do. They were good. They were there when they said they would be.

At first we had some issues, but then they made it right so it was pretty good. They did a pretty good job. It was a good experience. It was a little rough in the beginning, but towards the end they made everything alright. It was mostly communication issues. The contractors were not showing up on time. There was that one supervisor that made everything to our liking and they worked everything out for us. First we dealt with the issues we had and it was kind of tough, but after a while we got it all worked out with the supervisor.

Took some time to actually receive a response to our inquiry for an estimate of work, approximately 1 week. Once the estimate took place the work went smoothly, the work crew was professional and did a quality job. The old entrance was replaced with a center opening French style door that added character to our home. The pricing was also very fair, and the work was completed in a timely manner.

I contacted them around June last year to get an estimate. They were always pleasant on the phone. They were great really prompt with estimates. I wish to have done buisnes with them but we end up with another contractor. It was a question of price.

My insurance company paid the bill. They did not seem to be communicating with the insurance company well; it took them a long time to get here. The insurance company was asking for more information and they finally had to send their own adjuster out; they had used Highland's adjuster. They were very expensive.

We had them stop work. We were unsatisfied with the work they were doing and we wanted them to correct it. They refused to make the corrections we asked them to make. We found out after we contacted other contractors to bid the job that they underbid the job. Some of their subcontractors were pretty unprofessional. They showed up on time but they damaged other parts of the home. They scraped walls and furniture as they were taking things out of the bathrooms. We had specifically told them that if the furniture was in the way, we would move it. One of the crews took a light bulb out of a ceiling fan and used it in the bathroom because it had burned out and they didn't notify us. They were unprofessional. One of them was using foul language at my mother-in-law and complaining about having to clean out the garbage when the new bathtub arrived. He wanted Highland Construction to come and pick it up. They underbid the job so they thought they could get by with subpar work. We stopped work and settled our bill and that has been easy. They have been really reasonable about it and they are replacing some stuff that was damaged. They have been more than fair in wrapping it up. The price was great because they underbid it.

In 2003, Highland Construction Inc guided me through the complicated process of my Insurance claim and re-building my home. Without their expertise and consistent and superb services, I would have had an unfortunate experience turn into a nightmare.

I was very pleased from start to finish with all projects. Highland Construction is a family business so I always talked with an owner. Their staff and even their subcontractors have been with them a long time. As a single women, I felt comfortable with them in my home when I was there and when they were there alone. Their estimates were reasonable and the work was always good. They addressed any concerns quickly. When my garage was broken into, they came quickly and repaired the door with a heavier door and lock. They also checked all my other window and doors to make sure they were secure, They made me feel much better. I highly recommend them for any construction or remodeling project.

Quality control was poor and the job foreman had to spend time personally rectifying problems. It took three trips for the painters to get the bathroom to standard; there were portions where sheet rock was not painted and there were gaps and crevices in the sheet rock joints. There was a lot of finger-pointing as the sheet rock crew said that the painters would prep the surface and repair crevices and the painters said that finishing the sheet rock was the sheet rock crew's responsibility. The painters did not adequately cover countertop and they used no tape on floorboards, trim or light fixtures, which resulted in lots of clean-up of splatter and wiping paint off of a new light fixture (twice!). There were drips that had to be sanded out and the overall resulting appearance of the sheet rock upon completion was poor. Additionally, the countertop (man-made marble) was scratched and had to be buffed out. The plumbers, painters and foreman all put heavy tools and paint cans on the counter, which resulted in deep scratches. The exterior work was marginal; trim work around a pet door was replaced, but the first replacement had sloppy 45-degree angle joints that didn't match up, so they had to do the work again. Caulking was not thorough and a fascia board was split when it was installed. It would have been left there split had I not required that it be replaced. One positive is that the company was responsive to coming back out and fixing the problems. The bottom line is that there was little pride in the quality of the finishing work. Had I not paid attention to the details I would have been left with extremely poor results. As it is now, I will still have to go back and touch up the walls and replace some trim work myself. I will not use this company again and I would not recommend them.
