They gave us a fair estimate and did everything they said they were going to do and the results were beautiful .

They were very unprofessional and they did not show up at the time they promised. The materials were not ordered as promised. The requested the check for the materials up-front and cashed my check the very next day, but I didn't get materials for three weeks because of the problems with the warehouse. The guys who did the floor told me that about two weeks ago, his whole old crew had quit on him, so he didn't have anybody to do my floors. The job was really drawn out and very unprofessional and I ended up having to fire him midway through. I think that he really knows what he is doing, but I think that maybe he was relapsing into some bad ways or something and that's why things went downhill. I think is somebody uses him, they need to be very cautious and do not give any money up-front.
Response from Cook's Flooring
"True, my crew did quit, hence the conflicted schedule and miscommunication working with new guys who obviously don't have respect for who they work for. Being that the newly hired guys were experienced and was told in planning the schedule a day prior with my crew that my guy will provide nails from home to ease the schedule and so they can get an early start by not having to wait on me to go buy some, I truly thought you were in good hands. Then unfortunately, these new guys wanting an early start showed up late, if my memory serves me right, they arrived right as you were calling me to find out what was going on. I understand completely your frustration with that, I was and would have been feeling the same way. But what I believe set things over the top, while I was out conducting estimates and another job(backed up due to previous crew quitting), my workers at your house conveniently(inconveniently, actually. Sorry for the scarcasm) run out of nails. Nails I was under the impression he had plenty if and was bringing. Unable to reach me to make me aware, your job sat for a couple to several hours with no progress. Not only could these so called "experienced" floor guys not pull together and even think about spending $40.00 for a box to be reimbursed later, but they allowed the issue to be a concern and problem for you, the homeowner, my customer. Believe me when I say I am filled with regret to how your job went and then being fired that morning right at the end after just speaking with you on the phone stating that I personally was on my way to complete the last 3-4 hours of work needing to be done to finish your job and having to walk away feeling cheated out of my money(which was the least of my concerns)right at Christmas and knowing that I, my company, now has an unhappy customer and the problems which arose during my company's struggle to get you complete during a rough time are far from over. I, Richard Cook, owner and operator of Cook's Flooring, can assure you and any customer that with those experiences, those setbacks, your unhappiness, my failure, and all the lessons learned because of, there will never be another job performed even remotely close to how poorly your job was conducted. I hope you did not have to wait long to hire another contractor to get your floors finished and your home put back together, but surely you did not have any added expense due to my penalty for my unprofessionalism. Also, I will never leave a new employee or be left in a position to have to even think about having to leave a new employee on or in in one of my customers home ever again. The ABILITIES and CHARACTER of ALL Cook's Flooring employees go under careful review before such a notion would be considered to protect both my customer's and the Cook's Flooring name. Its hard to find good help. But its not hard to learn from my mistakes. I'm sorry you had such a poor experience with my company. I really am. The odds of getting an experience such as yours from my company, especially now, are the same as winning the lottery. Take care and God Bless. 20% off all Labor for any future work for you until 2020. That is my word. Just provide this response to you review. I promise your next experience will be smooth and stress free."

Mr. Cook came to my house to measure my square footage. He brought is little boy with him who helped hold the tape measure. He gave me a written estimate on the spot which took him about 5 minutes to complete. Later I added the removal of the padding and the tack strips to the job. His quote was half that of 2 other companies I got estimates from. On the day that he was to start the job, my power was shut off because of a mix up with the previous owner. They did all they could that did not require electricity and had to come back the next day to start stripping of the floors. After i was given the estimate and after I removed the carpet, i found that a wall had been re-sized and the flooring would now need patching. Unless you get down on the floor and look for the missing tack strip nail holes, you can't tell there was missing boards in my floor. They used plastic and painter's tape to close off the rooms that I did not have hard wood in so as to keep the dust from spreading. They could have swept the base board before they left to remove the dust that had settled on them. They also left a few hand prints and stain drips on my walls, which I simply painted over. There were also scratch marks in the entry way they they left in the floor before staining, but I keep a carpet in there, so it doesn't bother me. The job took 3 1/2 days. I was not there during most of the work, I was even out of town when they finished the work. I have electronic locks on my house and I programmed a code specifically for him. My floors look great and I plan to have Cook's Flooring do more work on my floors in the future.
Response from Cook's Flooring
"Thank you for the very positive and honest review. My apologies for the couple spots on the walls. But thank you. What a great and honest review. Like a review should be. You explained your experience with my company and the end results. Thank you for your business. 20% off Labor on your next project with our company."
