They were excellent and even came back to make sure I was completely satisfied. They are currently restoring my sisters home. I highly recommend Ben and his crew.

This is a long story so I'll be brief and just give you the highlights. 1. An underground spring combined with a hill and violations of building codes was allowing water to enter my home causing the damage to drywall, mold and a host of other problems none of which are good for my sanity or the health of the kids. 2. Received lots of quotes from the, "I can fix that problem with a can of flex seal and a dehumidifier" up to and including an estimate for $100,000+ to essentially put an underground private drainage system around my house. That dude got shown the door pretty quick, but he did drive a fancy truck.... 3. Talked to Ben about the problem while he was here doing a woodworking project (his bread and butter and trust me on that he is THE MAN.) Ben was familiar with the issue because it is super common from where he grew up and he knew exactly what to do. 4. Ben gives me a start date and work begins. The front yard gets torn up, the work is done and then Ben and crew grade everything out and get it looking pretty. Just in time too. Because Hurricane Matthew comes through 3 weeks after they finish. While the front yard ended up washed into the backyard the inside of my home stayed dry. If we hadn't paid for the job, if Ben hadn't done it correctly, if Ben wasn't on top of each detail we would have suffered massive amounts of flooding and most likely our home would have been uninhabitable for some time. 5. Like I posted in 4 above the new grass seedlings and topsoil got washed away. That happens when you get 20 inches of rain in 6 hours. What doesn't usually happen is for your contractor to call you up to ask how things went and then for him to come over to help you repair an act of God when he himself still didn't have power at his own home. Yep, Ben's area of the county was hit harder than mine. I come home from work to find that on his own time (and at his expense which he didn't have to do) he came over and put down more topsoil and seed to replace that which had been washed away. Again, he didn't have power and he had standing water around his home and he was worrying about mine. So here it is two years later. I am leaving this review because I just joined Angie's List for a totally unrelated reason and saw that American Woodworkery didn't have a review under this type of service. Yes, its a long review but I think if someone goes to the lengths that Ben and his crew do to perform a professional service it is important for me, the consumer, to be as forthright and honest with others out there who may be in need of his services. The attached photos depict during the work and one year after the work was completed.
