I can sum up the story from start to finish is one sentence. Get everything they promise you in writing. Don't just take them at their word that they will do something or fix something without it being in writing before you go to closing and hand over your down payment money. I still have things that need fixing, and here it is almost a year later. Things that were promised to me that would be fixed and/or replaced.
